    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

All right I did a bit of sleuthing.... I've identified 20 batches of soap, dating back to April 2019, where I used GSO, usually at 10-15%, but once at 20%. Three batches are just a couple of weeks old, so I wouldn't expect anything on them. Another 5 batches are from late May, which is still...

    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

Sounds like a whole thing! I wish I could get some tallow...guess I could always go to the butcher across the street and see if they have any and learn to render.....

    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

@cmzaha Have you done 100% lard bars? I'm wondering if there's a sour spot (opposite of a sweet spot) where up to this much is ok and over this much is ok but in the middle..... Well, sounds like it could be purt near anything....contamination of some sort is not out of the question, I suppose...

    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

So interesting! As I was scrolling through my soap calc sheets looking for this one, I realised that, despite my self-perception, I really do have LOT of different recipes, however, I don't think I have any with lard + grapeseed. But I have 100+ bars with 15% grapeseed and dozens of 100% lard...

    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

Waaah any idea of why? I've made dozens of batches and haven't ever seen anything. And it's not to do with the high or low water, since it's 4 bars (hoo boy, I wonder who has the other 2....or maybe the other 2 are fine, because it was the conditions here that were a problem.)

    Mayday! Mayday! DOS????

Hi all! Many photos to really document what's going on here. I only have partial information about these guys.....they were made in January, 6 bars as part of a high/low water experiment, and were creamy white, as you can see in the photo right after they were made. I did 3 bars of each...

What soapy thing have you done today?

when tho? before unmolding, I guess, but not right away.....thoughts, anyone else who does holey soap?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Ok wait.....I was mainly interested in the *rope* which you didn't even mention, but then there's lots more in here to ask about! ;-) PCSF? Any reason to think I couldn't do this CP? I'm thinking not, but then again, I don't know what PCSF is (a magik spell??) and I still don't know how that...

Oh my that's fantastic. Can you remind us/point us to how you did this? Gorgeous pic, too! Your Chocolate-Basil soap is very intriguing to me, @TashaBird. Do you mind sharing your fragrance recipe? I have chocolate FO and basil EO....any recommendations about ratios? I tend to experiment with...

    Weight labeling

This conversation hasn't even veered off into a war of scale accuracy.... Surely the customer has a fully accredited scale at her house, not like mine which all say "not legal for trade" on them....

Not quite that far up the 401 :) Did you see that with the new USMCA, the duty-free minimum is raised from NAFTA? Something like $150 up from $20. (BTW, I prefer the Canadian acronym, CAMUS. Easier to say than uhh-zuhm-kuh)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Few hours up the 401 from you :p I've got a few things in my cart from both Candora and Windy Point. I have never ordered from a Canadian supplier other than NDA....the prices just seem so high! But, I have practically every FO that NDA makes and there are some other additives like SL and some...

Was that FO from NDA? I have one called that from them that I haven't tried yet.

I love everything about this post! The soap! The photograph of the soap! The clever name of the soap!

    Suuuuuuper fluid recipe

It's all the way through like that! Cut should be pretty impressive....usually just the bottom that's a bit of a dud ;-)

    Suuuuuuper fluid recipe

Basement still smells great! Took the sides off the mold this morning, but not rushing it so I don't much or dent it. Will monitor throughout the day and then CUT!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Oh yes, I think I used it all up, actually. You can see some bubbles on the soap in the photo...this was likely my last bar and I decided to photograph it for posterity... This was my 1st in a series of 3 (and counting) lavender-anise soaps...You think lavender is a strong scent until you pair...

    Suuuuuuper fluid recipe

I did it! My first spin swirl! And of course I scented it (Eucalyptus-Spearmint from NDA, which I knew didn't accelerate nor discolour). Used @shunt2011 's recipe, with grapeseed and sunflower oils, adding 5% extra sunflower as I'm out of castor. I intended to add sugar to the water for bubbles...

    “Gardeners Soap”

I've got the one from New Directions Aromatics and it seems good. Strong, long lasting and accurate to my nose. But I am no connoisseur. ;)

    Suuuuuuper fluid recipe

Aww thanks Zany. Though you should know that everything I accomplish is absolute happenstance. Remember when I made your Castile and ended up with brie cheese?? I think I'll try all of these suggestions, @shunt2011 and @Anstarx , too, and report back. Unless I get distracted.....
