Making soap the REALLY old fashioned way

I remember reading material that you've mentioned. All this is so interesting to me and I could spend (have spent) hours and hours reading just for the sake of soaking up all that I can--for knowledge sake. It's time-consuming and labor-intensive so, yes, one needs to understand all the ins and...

@Zany_in_CO Something Wicked This Way Comes movie?? Since you put 'carousel' for' revive' and that movie could allow people to become younger ('revive' their youth) by riding the carousel, if I remember correctly, I figure that's why you chose 'carousel.' --OR--they could choose to become...

Does anybody here promote CP soap as shampoo?

Absolutely. I too tried to make that point (shredded soap in boiling water bla, bla, bla) to no avail. The response was, "they knew it was bad even way back then." Way back then they had not much else to use; detergents had not yet been invented. There were many things (as the history of shampoo...

Horror-comedy (I did check to see if a hyphenated word was considered 'one' word before using this.)

Germs (Regarding recent discussions in another forum I was gunna make a funny about CP soap and germs, but I won't; I'll be nice)

Making soap the REALLY old fashioned way

"Pasty" is a good way of describing what mine looked like. What I made was method 3 of your explanation--add some fat, then some ley, cooked on my stove and then repeat. I saw (in the short video) that ley was being added intermittently as it cooked but I couldn't tell if they were adding more...

    Hello from New York

Welcome @Kare Klein and I hope it stays fun for you now. I applaud those who make and sell because it is SO MUCH work!! I do sell but only to my family--sons, DILs and nieces/cousins who are more like sisters to me. In this way, I can rid myself of the excess soap that's steadily compiling (lol)...

    One year soaping anniversary!

My poor DIL has to suffer through my youngest son's long-windedness....he gets it from me. Our oldest son is like his dad, can say a whole book in only a few sentences.

    One year soaping anniversary!

Copying @Kari Howie's idea: :):nodding::winner::nodding::) Isn't it comical how names matter? Lol, I'm just the opposite. I love the coffee scents but do not like the tea scents. I made some scented with Green Tea and had to hold my face way away from the faucet as I tested the lather. That's...

Making soap the REALLY old fashioned way

This was a good read, I always have to chuckle when I see material about 'no lye' soaps--impossible. Within this material, I used the "boil method" since it hastens the process, I was too anxious to wait by doing it the time-consuming way. Everything stated about the preference for slightly...

    Dehydrated goat milk

You are quite welcome. My guess was milk fats but had no clue as to which ones. I lower my super fat # a bit when I included powdered GM in my soap to account the fats, otherwise it’ll be higher than what I intend. (LOL) I Google everything.....so I did:D Hope this helps:

    Dehydrated goat milk

I don't make my own dehydrated dairy products but I do use them in my soap--no having to freeze them into ice cubes. When I first started using dairy products in my soap I did freeze them but then thought I'd see how dehydrated products worked--love it because then I can use other liquids like...
