Help needed - Hardness and Longevity

I had no idea that hardness was referring to the time you could remove your soap from the mold. Thank you for that explanation!

You know you have soapy brain when......

When someone comes to visit and my 5 year old starts digging out my scale, my soap equipment and slivers of soaps stored away like it's show and tell.

You know you have soapy brain when......

... your 5 year old keeps bringing you rocks 'to make into soap' because he thinks you make soap out of rocks, not soaps that look like rocks.

I see what you're saying. Like Bing and Rainier? That would look good. Thanks for the suggestion!

Sellers - unusual scents or typical scents?

There's a soap company that I stumbled on one day called Outlaw Soaps that has a lot of what I would consider unusual fragrances (campfire, wet earth, gunpowder). I'd love to give them a sniff!

    Post your Gripe

Update: My mom was discharged from the hospital yesterday! I was out trick or treating with our youngest when she called to tell me, and I didn't get to speak with her, so I still don't know what, if any, diagnosis she was given. I'll talk to her today and get more details.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I used a cherry FO and did a wall pour. I'm still trying to find a design I like for the cherry FO. Maybe a ITP swirl or a hanger swirl? The wall pour looks like tree rings to me :)

    Post your Gripe

@Lin19687 , @Zany_in_CO and @Marilyn Norgart Thanks for your support. Last night I slept well and when I woke up this morning I had a message from my mom. Still no diagnosis yet, but she had a MRI yesterday. The nurses told her she should get a diagnosis tomorrow (or for me, later in the...

    Post your Gripe

I got a message this morning that my mom had been admitted into the hospital. She was out having dinner with her sister and friends and according to my mom, she passed out. My mom was admitted to the hospital and several tests have been done. No diagnosis yet. I spoke with my mom very briefly...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made a batch of Cherry scented soap and did a wall pour using red iron oxide, TD and yellow mica. Can't wait to cut it tomorrow!

    My recent market analysis

The distributor supplies MSDS and it lists the INCI names. One of the colorants I use is Blackberry Mica and the full list of ingredients is Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Tin Oxide and Iron Oxide. I'm still a bit fuzzy on the labeling requirements for the EU. I don't know if a general listing like...

    Holiday Market supply

I'm starting small, 7 or 8 fragrances this year, soap only. I'll adjust as needed next year. Right now, I'm just trying to get my name out there and hopefully get a base clientele. I just want to make sure I have enough bars of soap ready to go without going overboard. The shows are a week...

    Holiday Market supply

I'm assuming I'll be the only soap vendor there. There aren't a lot of small soap makers here yet. Right now I'm only selling soaps. So, if I were planning on selling like gangbusters, how many bars of each fragrance should I plan on?

    Holiday Market supply

I've signed up for 2 holiday markets this year. This will be the first time I've sold my soaps at a market and am not sure how many soaps I should have available for each market. To make things more interesting, I think both of the markets are new, so I don't know how many visitors are expected...

Tools for making tiny soap batches? (Milk frother?)

I've wondered this myself. I don't know if this helps, but Ikea has inexpensive milk frothers and I was thinking of giving one of these a try. Maybe it works? If it doesn't then at least it wasn't a lot of money. And if your recipe is a fast tracer, then a frother might work...

SMF October Challenge Entry Thread - Mini Drops Swirl

This was definitely a learning experience. I think I over-thought the challenge and made things more complicated than they needed to be. I used Scottish Wildflower and Honey FO and wanted to replicate a field with wildflowers. I used Jade, Blackberry, Terra Cotta and Lemon micas and the white in...

SMF October 2019 Challenge - Mini Drops Swirl

Hubby came home last night with 4 squeeze bottles! I kicked out an attempt and it's been put to bed. Here's hoping my soap reflects my vision and can get a worthwhile photo in tomorrow. I did get a bit worried when the squeeze bottles started making rude noises. I think I'd be better off with...
