I hate bath bombs, an ode to bath and body that we all hate

Nope, not witchcraft. You just need to make little bomb embeds with a different ratio of citric acid (than the big bomb you embed them in) to make the big bomb spin. Add some SLSA to create the foam. My two favorites (and best-sellers) were: Nosferatu - a black glitter bomb that turned the tub...

I hate bath bombs, an ode to bath and body that we all hate

I despise making bath bombs even though I love the science of making them spin and shoot out different colors.I know people love them but I hate making them so much that I decided the money wasn't worth it. My haiku for my hatred of the process: I must make them spin. Total pain in my behind...

    Half-wrapping soap

I've been thinking about making frosted soap since no one around here does them and they DO look pretty cool. But obviously they aren't going to fit in my current soap boxes, so this shrink wrap is on my radar since you're supposed to be able to smell through the wrap...

    Violet Woods

Oh my gosh! I forgot those mints even existed! I used to get them at a little drug store in the French Market (New Orleans) and loved them!!

    Using old fragrance oils?

When The ScentWorks went out of business several years ago I bought multiple pounds of my favorite FOs. Same with Peak a few years ago. I've never had any issues soaping with old FOs. They smell the same as when I bought them and haven't created any new issues in soap.

50 Pounds of No-Stir Palm Oil

Thank you all so much! 😻

50 Pounds of No-Stir Palm Oil

I buy my sustainable no-stir palm oil in 50 lb blocks and put about 5 pounds in a small container and refill as needed from the block. The block itself I keep in the original plastic bag (tightly closed) in a closet in our house to avoid it being exposed to light and extreme temperature...

    Post your Gripe

@AliOop ,that made me laugh AND reminded me of the toilets at MSY in New Orleans. They have thin plastic seat covers that fit on the seat and automatically rotate along with the toilet flush! I've seen them in a few other places since, but I thought it was the coolest thing when I first saw them...

    Sandalwood

While sandalwood isn't as polarizing as patchouli, I find that there is still some stigma of it being 'stinky hippie incense', lol! I use Oregon Trails' Mysore Sandalwood FO (which is amazing!) and named the soap "Chandana" which is Sanskrit for sandalwood. More than once I've had customers who...

    Massage Candles

I AGREE!! BUT....my neighbor (who is a master potter and a great friend of mine) specifically requested these. Clay is very drying to the hands and she had bought a massage candle in the past and loved the warmth of the oils but not the oil itself so much, so she asked if I could make a better...

    Renaming after 21 years.

To expand on @TheGecko 's sound advice - what would you like for your business name to reflect? I know you said your current name didn't reflect your expertise and offerings, but I'm thinking more of style. What do you want your customers to think/feel when they see your business name and...

SMF January 2022 Challenge - There's No Place Like Home

@linne1gi I LOVE your alligator!!! Is it a column mold? Could you please share where you found it if you don't mind?

    Coronavirus

Aside from the current staffing shortages, Covid has recently been ripping through staff causing even more shortages. The current policy is that staff return to work after a 5 day quarantine. I tested positive week before last and while I might not have been contagious after 5 days, I still felt...

    A question of color: strawberry

I've been meaning to make a strawberry soap forever using Ione's soap for inspiration. I love her color combination and swirls!

Additives that look like stars in a Galaxy soap

I wonder if you could use something like Sparkle Plenty from Mad Micas and just kind of put random pinches in as you pour? Like a mica line, but not all in the same place, if that makes sense?

Using African Black Soap in CP

Hi, I've used the search engine here and searched videos on YouTube, but I'm still a little unsure how to go about this. Ann Marie from Brambleberry just did a video on using their new ABS crumbles in rebatch but I want to incorporate it into CP. I received some ABS from (I think) @cmzaha during...

Nobody wants to try shampoo bars unless they're free...

I don't mind at all! I use these 4, switching up from time to time. I also use the conditioners in the same 4: https://www.aveda.com/product/5311/16272/hair-care/shampoo/brilliant-shampoo#/shade/8.5_fl_oz%2F250_ml...

    Stick Blender Hell!!

Yep, I use that one as well! I bought a purple version at Sam's Club a couple of years ago and I love it! I have another Cuisinart SB that I got at Goodwill for $10 for a backup :)

Nobody wants to try shampoo bars unless they're free...

This may not help, but I can answer 1 and 3 as to why I don't use shampoo bars. Also, I've only used Lush shampoo bars and I love the concept, but they are a hard NO for me. Your shampoo bars are probably much better, but I would still be hesitant. 1. I have a lot of hair - waist length and...

    A Valentine's soap order request

I don't think they're too Christmasy at all. I'd go pick up a rubber heart stamp at your local craft store and stamp the bottom (or top) white area with either red or gold mica. Voila - Valentine Soap! Here's a stamp for example...
