    Wooden Wick Co.

I was invited to join a local Artist Guild a few months ago and our first post-Covid Art Crawl is scheduled for July. I'm the only soapmaker/chandler in the group and while I'm happy with my soaps and other products; my candles are pretty plain. By plain I mean metal tins with a cute label and...

    Titanium Dioxide alternatives

I use Nurture's Winter White mica as linked in the prior post or Snow White mica from Mad Micas. They are very similar and I just buy from whomever I'm placing an order with when I run low. I haven't used TD in years because these micas are a really good alternative and so much easier to work...

    Original Recipe Vs. Original Design

@Redglade, I love that you're so concerned about creating your own original ideas and I applaud you for that!! As others have said, there really is nothing new under the sun. I know that I have created soaps that I honestly and truly thought were unique only to find something eerily similar from...

    Base formula

This forum is absolutely for asking questions and it's one of the most friendly, helpful forums for soapmaking that I've belonged to over the years. This is a great place to learn and you will find a lot of very generous advice from our members. Welcome! But your posts don't seem like general...

    Do you provide shopping bags?

I'm all about branding so that's a big yes for me! I buy mine by the case in 2 sizes and use custom stamps with my company name and logo to make them my own. They add an elegant touch and like TheGecko said, people love them and reuse them, plus it's great advertising. I got my custom stamps...

Trying to narrow down my ricing problem

I don't think too much sugar is the problem since I use more than anyone has mentioned. I put my distilled water/aloe vera juice in my lye pitcher and add my sugar, sodium lactate, and tussah silk. I mix well until all the sugar has dissolved and THEN I add my lye and give it a quick stir. While...

    Ideas for discoloration?

For the Mayan Gold that turns yellow: Maybe add a gold mica to tone down the yellow? With an orange swirl/tiger stripe, perhaps? My favorites of of the colors in the links are Golden Buddha for gold and Koi for the orange. I LOVE Always a Bridesmaid, but I don't think it would work here...

    Brambleberry Sea Salt Tutuorial

Is it just me or is there SO much wrong with this video?? I watched it earlier this evening and was thinking "What is she doing?? This seems like a terrible idea!" Like that salt is going to rip your hide off when you use that bar of soap - and then sting like crazy because, well it's salt. Big...

    Fragrance

I add my FO (and kaolin clay) to my oils and blend well before adding my lye solution. I switched to this method years ago and I've never noticed any loss of fragrance between doing it this way or adding the FO at light trace. If I have a fragrance that I know (or suspect) will accelerate, I just...

    Is this Greed or Business?

Thanks, y'all! I'm normally one of the most laid-back people ever and it doesn't bother me when I find out someone attempted to copy something that I felt was original to me. I mean we are ALL constantly inspired by each other and that's a good thing, and usually it's flattering that someone...

    Is this Greed or Business?

Just another thought: My business is very small. But before I decided to create a business I worked hard and had a lot of trial and error in the process of creating what I felt were high quality, top-notch products that I would want to use myself. Then I put a lot of time and thought into my...

    Is this Greed or Business?

I don't have any qualms about using FO dupes of BBW or Lush scents. In the case of BBW I don't like their products but I do like some of the scents. Like most of us, I started making things for myself and I wanted a quality product so price wasn't my first consideration. BBW isn't going to make...

    Is this Greed or Business?

I personally wouldn't be comfortable with this practice. It's one thing to dupe a fragrance that has been discontinued / from a company no longer in business - but to make a business of duping fragrances that are currently available from the original vendors seems unethical indeed.

Would you use a website dedicated to cataloguing fragrance dupes?

What a great idea! I would use a site like that :)

    Seriously WSP??

Ok, so I KNOW processing/shipping times are longer due to Covid restrictions. I placed orders with 5 different vendors on the same day and they all arrived within a couple of weeks EXCEPT for the WSP order. It took WSP a FULL 2 weeks to even ship my order and then I didn't receive the correct...

    Massage Candles

I've made soy candles and tarts for years, but I've never made a massage candle. I use GB 464 for container candles but it's not skin-safe. Rather than ordering GB 402 or 415, I was thinking of using illipe butter instead since I have lots of it. My other option would be beeswax, but I know it...

Need Help finding/creating tiny fleur de lis cookie cutters

Thank you for the replies! And many thanks to @glendam for your offer to create these :) After a recent conversation with an Etsy vendor in Lithuania, I realize that my tiny size request isn't very realistic for such an intricate pattern. She's making them in a 1-inch cookie cutter instead. And...

Need Help finding/creating tiny fleur de lis cookie cutters

Admin, please move this post if I'm asking in the wrong forum. moved I need a fleur de lis cookie cutter in a tiny size like 1/2 inch tall. After many internet searches I suspect there is no such thing. So I'm wondering if anyone on here who does 3D printer stuff would be willing to make...
