What soapy thing have you done today?

@HippieDippie , your failure is amazing! Such great work! Thanks for the compliment of the kaleidoscope soap. I’m hoping to perfect it as much as possible.

Tussah Silk and Ice water lye solution

The only reason I don’t use those which are Bombax mori cocoons (Mulberry Silk) is because I liked the cruelty free aspect of tussah silk for making soap. Although, the Bombax larvae are considered a nutritious meal and are very a popular food source for some, so nothing technically goes to...

Tussah Silk and Ice water lye solution

I don’t use ice when making my lye solution. I just put the silk in my water and then add lye. I don’t even strain it unless I’m using the silk that wasn’t cleaned of debris before purchasing.

    Fragrance Oil Testing

Scents in melt and pour can smell differently. I have some scents that are wonderful in melt & pour and not so great in my CP soap.

Tussah Silk and Ice water lye solution

I love tussah silk. It gives my soap a silky feel with lots of slip. I add a cotton ball size per 2lb batch of oils. Some add the same amount to a 5lb batch of oils. I get my silk from Amazon.

What is this? Looks like mold or frost

Just a lot of soda ash to me. It’s harmless.

pH challenge by Dr. Kevin Dunn

That’s not a precise way of testing pH. The whole thread is about why a ph of 7 in soap can’t happen. You can make syndet bars ph of 7. @DeeAnna explained to you why. This whole thread is all about why you can’t get a pH 7 in soap.

    Facial bar/Hyaluronic Acid

HA is best for leave on products. It’s not worth putting in soap.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I am getting better and better at this kaleidoscope soap. My last batch came out perfect even though I thought it was completely ruined due to the soap being too thin. I’m so happy! Will post pics once they are cleaned up.

It’s not possible to make a soap with a ph of 7 or below.

    Wound care @ home

On areas with broken skin I would not use any lotion or creams due to the increased risk of infection and some ingredients can delay wound healing. Around the wound is fine. Medical honey is great for wounds and helps with healing. Foods high in vitamin C help the body make collagen which is...

What soapy thing have you done today?

My latest kaleidoscope soap is almost perfect! The colors are a little more pastel than what I wanted, but I’m very happy with how it came out. With each soap I get better at this. Scented with WSP Coconut Lime Verbena.

Reading the previous posts that were referenced in here made my eyes cross. It is very interesting that this was even a debate.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thanks so much! I use the Love Your Suds pull-through soap shapers with my Custom Craft Tools mold. It’s been a learning curve for me. I’ve been able to get a pattern with each soap, but not one this good. So, I’m very happy. I have another kaleidoscope I just made today. Can’t wait to unmold it...

Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

There aren’t really any guidelines on when it’s okay to use soap on children. I ask patients to wait around 6 months.

I have found my lemon scents! RE Lemon verbena - absolute best lemon verbena. It’s perfectly balanced with a nice sharp note that makes it nice and tart and just overall delicious. RE Lemon Slices - a pure lemon! No dusting spray, lemonade or candy notes. Perfect lemon scent and holding quite...
