Too many different scents to choose from?

This thread comes at the perfect time! We currently carry 30 different scents of soap and run this as a side hustle. We are in the process of downsizing to about half of those scents. When I started this "business" I set everything up like a big business and decided to track every product...

    Donating Soap

Twice I year I look deeply at sales numbers for soap with the intention of dropping scents that are not selling, I also look at other products that are not selling as I would like. I then reduce the price on those items for about 2 months. At the end of that time those products go into my...

Just heard Nature's Garden has been bought out by WSP

IF this is true, this saddens me! I switched to NG because WSP customer service was awful, shipping took forever and the prices became so high. I just logged into my NG account, had to reset my password. All past orders do not show detail. I checked out the fragrances and that page looks...

    Can we talk about clean-up/dishes?

I wipe tools off as I am done using them then put everything in a bucket. Once I am done soaping for the day, all spatulas, spoons, etc gets sprayed with Dawn Powerwash, rinsed in hot water and loaded into the dishwasher (I have a dishwasher in the basement that is only used for soapy things.)...

When friends want to buy my “gifts”

I do the same. It really helps to know my cost per ounce and cost per item. I sell mostly at farmers markets and events so I like to be able to offer discounts for other vendors and still make something off of my products and thos is the best way I have found.

Wincing at a post from a local soapmaker

In my experience people like this don't usually last long. Their false claims are usually discovered by their customers. You can educate your customers and followers if they ask about her claims. Educating our customers about our products is one of the many ways we can let our customers...

    Do you provide shopping bags?

We use white paper bags with a handle that I buy either from Amazon or papermart. We have a custom stamp that we use on the bags. For small purchases we buy a small flat bag with either chevron or some other design on it. We also stamp those bags. For larger purchases we have a tote bag...

    Need Recommendations On Soap Boxes

Amazon carried the same boxes as WSP and they about the same price, but without the handling fee that WSP charges. I use the ones with the rectangular cut out.

    Washing soap materials question?

All used soaping tools go into a bucket after soaping. When the bucket is full everything gets a good rinse and run through the dishwasher. Before using anything it is sprayed with isopropyl alcohol. We just got a new dishwasher and our old one will be installed in my soap cave to be used...

    Questions on lotion bars

I melt all of my lotion bar oils in a deep fryer on low. Hardest oils first then gradually adding in other oils. It has avoided all grainy feeling. Clean up is super easy with just paper towel.
