    Nailed it!

Matching soap to bathroom is quite an idea. I love the pink! Is that a sprinkling of fairy dust on top to make it sparkle?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made a 100% oil weight salt bar (with a pinch of red clay) and 50% oil weight salt bar (dash of blue clay and random blue micas). Very interesting! I much prefer the 50% one when pouring.

So I guess I totally blew it on this soap with coconut milk added?

I make my lye water with partial ice to reduce the fumes. It melts the ice and even heats up a bit. I once did a 90% ice lye water and it barely heated up. Was only warm to the touch. So yes, you can add Lye to frozen liquids. Not too much though, due to the lowered temperature, the lye tends to...

100% olive oil soap didn't gel

Try looking up "Oleic gel" and "ZNSC". The reason why high olive soaps are slimey/snotty is the high Oleic acid. I've learnt that these kind of soaps cannot be left wet as you have discovered. I hang up my net bag of soap to dry near a window. Can't keep it in the shower also as the high...

    Soda Ash

I have the same problem too. Along the way I discovered for me personally, Shea & Cocoa butter ashed my soaps and additive free soaps ashed more frequently. I generally use 33% lye concentration in my variation of recipe experimentation. Tried spraying with IA and cling wrapping but still had...

What were you gifted or got for yourself over the holidays (for soaping or bath&body)?

I got a pot of honey from my boss. She gifted it for my family to consume. But my first thought was to make a soap from it for her. Ate a scoop while measuring it out for soaping. Super good! Now it's waiting to cure.

How to get smell / odor out of a silicone mold

I'm looking for a solution to this too. I bought a honeydew FO that was so strong smelling. I didn't even make soap with it yet. Just stored it in a plastic tub with all my soap stuff and it scented the mold. The FO was wrapped in bubble wrap, not leaking, not opened and not near the mold. This...

Yellow (yellowish) coconut oil. Help needed.

Oh yeah.. I'm in south east asia. CO is liquid at room temp. Heh.. I never have to melt any oils. I loved FCO. Bought a sample once and amazed at the whiteness of it comparatively. Too expensive though. Three times the price of normal CO. Here's a pic of my latest CO purchase being solid at...

Yellow (yellowish) coconut oil. Help needed.

I realised while going through my notes that I have used cold pressed CO once. Unfortunately I colored the soaps so can't really tell much about whiteness. But the brine soap link really explained why my ZNSC is a lovely solid creamy white while the other are not so solidly white. Learning a new...

What is the weirdest thing you've put in soap ?

Mine was Ginseng tea and Ginseng bits. Loved the tea part, not so big on the bits. I dislike bits and pieces coming off in the shower so it's a personal thing. Although I must say the bits made a good massager in the shower as they were soft instead of scrubby. I would make a Ginseng tea soap...

    Tea Tree Essential Oil Blends

I've used 1 bar and family seems fine. No one had any reaction. Good excuse to try rebatching since I've never done it before. Probably keep 1 for my soap museum, use 1 more and chop the remaining 2 up.

    Tea Tree Essential Oil Blends

Shoots.. I made a lard soap with Spearmint. Seems like I'm over IRFA guidelines about 6 times. 😭 The soap is now 5 weeks old. Should I chop it up and rebatch? Luckily it's a small 1 pound test loaf.

Ahh.. I see. Thanks for the correction.

Yellow (yellowish) coconut oil. Help needed.

I realised that the finished soap looks like the unmelted coconut oil. Colour difference in the final bar is slight but as I personally prefer a naturally as white as possible bar, I see what you mean. That said, my usual CO is like what you see in the pics. Slightly yellow. Never knew that...

    Finished soap ready to sell

I wanna see the back of the label! Like how do you list ingredients and how the label sticks together at the end.

    Olive oil soaps

2nd batch of ZNSC. I loved it enough in the shower to make a 2nd batch for using next year. Used up the last of my accelerating olive pomace. Switching to OO after this. Made a Marseille variation with 75% pomace, 10% CO, 10% palmolein, 5% castor. Coloured half with TD to see if it was worth...

    Haven't soaped for a year.

I think they look absolutely lovely! I would be glad to have them as a present. Personal fav #5. Can I ask how did you get #2(Purple) and #3(Orange) to have such a rounded peak? Mine at best comes up as a ^ pointy top. Should I let my batter thicken up more then scoop it into the mould?

Bar of soap for moderately hairy guy?

I've recently tried my newly cured 100% Coconut oil soap. What I found for longevity vs hardness is that coconut oil made a hard soap but does not last. Nothing beats trying it for yourself. I knew it wouldn't last but wow.. it really did not last! Hardness: 10/10. You can throw it at my head...

    Palm olein oil

I'm happy to say my Palm Olein experiment was successful! Made 2 batches with no problems. At a quarter the price of my regular palm oil, I'm very happy with it! Many thanks to everyone who helped me! The soaps The Palm Olein

Does it matter? Olive Oil vs Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Would anyone know the difference between these 2 OO? Ingredient list seems to be same. Same price too. Which would be a better choice for slower trace compared to pomace.
