What soapy thing have you done today?

Here’s my first attempt at ombré. I have no idea how I got the blue “mountains “ in the corner, but I really like them. The spout on my ao gave zillions of little bubbles, which are highlighted by my using a wire cutter. Sigh. I will recut them with a knife or something that will minimize them...

Making soap the REALLY old fashioned way

I remember reading somewhere (Little House on the Prairie, Farmer Boy maybe) where they mentioned homemade soap as being scoopable.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made 2 batches of ombre soap. It's my first attempt at it and so far so good. Looking forward to cutting it! Also considering getting another mold and wanted thoughts or suggestions. I'm looking at acrylic molds that are long and tall, but can't seem to decide on which option of sizes. There's...

    Might get into this.

I get avocado, olive oil and coconut oil at Costco. The shea and cocoa butters I get from a local shop in Brooklyn that has a lot of natural bath and beauty products and ingredients.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I made soap again after many, many months. I’m playing around with different pours, but am still not 100% happy with my colors. The blue mica (cp approved mica) was way too subtle for me. But overall I’m very happy with these results.

Beautiful! The top left one looks like a peacock feather.

    I’m so impressed!

I think it’s elegant and beautiful. Maybe not as dramatic as you were envisioning, but really lovely nonetheless.

Ends, Nubs & Botches: Can I Get a Witness?

I LOVE the feet comment! Don’t take it back.

Ends, Nubs & Botches: Can I Get a Witness?

Gorgeous!, hope it is nice and doesn’t smell like feet. We should all go and put our nicest ones in our own soap dishes!

    First attempt at hanger swirl

Wowza those are gorgeous!! I'm sure that will bring happiness during a difficult time for your friend. Wishing her well.

What kind of cutter is this?

Oh I wish I had seen that link sooner! That looks great. It’s really nice that it has replacement wires too. Now here’s another amazing soap cutter. Out of my league for now, but anyone know what this one is? Looks like you can adjust where the soap hits the wire, so you can really adjust the...

What kind of cutter is this?

Let me know if that's an option. Ack. See? I can't freakin' help myself. Gah. Must actually make soap instead of fill my tiny apartment with equipment.

What kind of cutter is this?

That is hilarious!! Please don't feel bad about suggesting that supplier. I was curious about that cutter and you helped me find the exact one. If I was really horrified, I would contact my credit card company and dispute the charge. I guess I'll just make more pure gold soap bars! :rolling:

    My new packaging

I agree with @HowieRoll too. I want to hear about the wonderful positives, not the random "negatives". Used to drive me nuts when it was the cholesterol free craze. Things that never ever had cholesterol (like celery) had cholesterol free labeling.

What kind of cutter is this?

I know! I'm pretty annoyed because they said that once the shipping was calculated I would get to approve the order. Ha ha. That didn't materialize. Most of the emails I received were in Japanese. Again, I wonder if the shipping charge has a minimum rate and that if I had made a bigger order it...

    My new packaging

I'll say it again...beautiful. I like the different (but coordinating) colors on the different soaps. Understand about the reasons for wrapping. I think I've been so enraptured with looking at and smelling the soap I've been making that I wasn't thinking about the practicalities of shipping and...
