Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

The M&P embeds did stop sweating but I'm still not as pleased with them as my CP embeds. They do shrink at a different rate and so don't feel completely smooth across the cut bar after a while. I also found that if I gelled the soap as I usually do, the margins of the M&P embeds kinda melted...

    MMS FO usage rates

I was looking at Majestic Mountain Sage's website, and they say their fragrances are very concentrated: "Please note that our fragrances are tested at 0.25 to 0.35 ounces per lb of fats for cold process soap. Do not use 1 oz per lb of fats, you don't need to use this excessive rate recommended...

First boutique! How much soap and other items to bring? Other advice?

So true! Not only labeling, but also the many other tasks that are necessary to make it all happen: sourcing and purchasing supplies, record-keeping, social media posting, and on and on. The actual making of all our goodies sometimes seems like just a small part of what we do...

Congrats to the winners! You had some pretty tough competition!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Small change, big difference! After making literally hundreds of batches in my usual 10-bar molds, I finally gave in and bought a 16-bar mold. I've been surprised by how different my first batch just went! Recalculated all my measurements and soon discovered my usual bowls and cups were now...

Scented Expressions - anyone ordered from them?

I ordered from them once, attracted by their good prices and selection. It took about a month to receive my order, and when I finally got it one item was backordered and took another couple of weeks. I haven't tried them since.

    Hacks and shortcuts!

I measure my liquid oils into the bowl one at a time, taring after each addition. To avoid over-pouring each oil, I put in close to what I need, stopping a bit short. I keep some of each oil in one of these little dropper bottles I buy at the dollar store, and complete my measurement from...

@Rune When you cut these into bars, you'll forget all the troubles along the way!

Is Midwest Fragrance's Espresso similar to Brambleberry's Espresso Fragrance?

Just placed my order for Caramel Coffee, so I'll find out soon.

Is Midwest Fragrance's Espresso similar to Brambleberry's Espresso Fragrance?

I haven't tried BB's Cafe Latte, and it's sold out as well. I've been wanting to try Midwest so that would have been my excuse, but I'm considering ordering Caramel Coffee from Nurture since I get my micas from them and need some more anyway. BB's Espresso is the only coffee fragrance I've...

Is Midwest Fragrance's Espresso similar to Brambleberry's Espresso Fragrance?

I love BB's Espresso and just got online to order some and learned that it's out of stock. Has anyone use Espresso fragrance from Midwest and know if it would be a good substitute? How 'bout one from WSP? Is there another from somewhere else you'd recommend as very similar?

Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

Update: So the good news is that it's now week 3 and the M&P embeds are no longer sweating! Whew!

Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

@Cindy D. Interesting that you didn't get any sweating. I wonder if the formula of your M&P from the Nurture M&P I used made the difference? Also, I used my embed only hours after making it. When I do it again, I'll cure them for at least a few days.

Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

I don't want to shrink wrap. I'd give up on M&P embeds if that's the only way to avoid sweaty soap. There's no controllable "dry situation" -- I'm in the Pacific Northwest! Rain happens ⛈️☔🌦️

Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

The soaps have been curing for about 2 weeks now, but we're having the first damp weather this week after a hot dry summer, so that's probably contributing to the sweating. This particular batch is part of a wholesale order, so I'm especially nervous for it to be just right. I need to label...

Problem with my first attempt at M&P embeds in CP soap

It was a nuisance making CP embeds and waiting until the next day to unmold and use them, so I thought I hit on the perfect solution trying M&P for the embeds. Made my first batch with the cutest little kitties in them (from a column mold). The soaps look good, but the kitties are wet. I used...

What can I mix with Strawberry?

I agree with you @KiwiMoose about it being a silly name, but it does smell good. It was one of the very first FOs I ever bought. I called it Tropical Fruit because I was sure no one wanted a whiff of Monkey Farts 😉 My usual go-to's don't have any rhubarb, but I'd sure love a piece of that pie...

What can I mix with Strawberry?

Great ideas so far. And I've got all those scents here sitting right here. Thank you! Gonna go sniff them together right now. Funny how I just hit a brain wall with this one. All these ideas sounds delicious! You guys are indeed the best! Funny you should say that: the one bar I sold was...

What can I mix with Strawberry?

I bought an 8 oz bottle of NS Sugared Strawberry. Truly smells like fresh strawberries OOB. Used it for some soap, and the bars smell really good to me, but the scent is fading fast and (except for one lonely bar) they're just not selling. I've still got most of the bottle. What scents...

    Restaurant Suppliers

I totally agree about lard -- it makes the best soap! I love it for my skin, and it's a pleasure to make soap with because it moves so slow. I use it for the majority of my soapmaking. It uses what would often otherwise be a waste product, and so I see it as environmentally smart. But there...
