Rethinking my shipping charges to customers

I charge a flat rate of $5 for shipping. I used to offer free shipping earlier but that was really killing my margins. I still eat $3.40 in shipping costs per order as most of my customers order 2 products at once and shipping them via USPS Priority Flat Rate padded envelope is actually cheaper...

    Photo Backdrops

Love it! I would totally buy this soap based on this pic. I am in the process of editing some pics from one of my shoots, so I edited yours as well. Hope you like it. As I was editing your pic, I realized that this pic will come out really nice with additional lighting or with some more natural...

What to do with old FOs

I have only been soaping for about a year and a half and have 20 bottles of EOs/FOs already. I need to stop ordering more FOs but some of these don't stick at all, I will eventually toss them or just make some aftershave splash for personal use and gifting.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I ended up having to rebatch my previous batch to add some more fragrance. Just can't seem to get this FO to stick.

    Photo Backdrops

Great shot, love the composition and the use of props! Have you tried editing this pic? If not, you might want to increase the exposure, add some contrast and saturate the colors slightly.

    Photo Backdrops

These look great! I have been taking product photos for a while now and here are some suggestions. In general, I think the first thing you need is to think of high level photo categories: 1) Product photos for e-commerce/website/Etsy etc. - Ideally, these need to be close ups that clearly...

    Adding FOs to aftershave?

Thanks for the suggestion, learned something new today! Is this safe to apply to facial skin right after a shave? I ask because the Brambleberry website lists this as a no under "lip safe". I am guessing one might end up with some product on their lips during the process of applying an aftershave.

Great EO blends for MANLY scents

I went down this path with EOs and then ultimately switched to NFOs. I can't even figure out what tie goes with my suit, so mixing and matching EOs to come up with fragrances was just not my thing. Here's a few that I tried and liked: 1 part Bergamot, 1 part Lavender, 3 parts Cedarwood 1 part...

    Need Advice Regarding Waterproof Labels

I use Kraft labels from Online Labels and then stick a clear glossy label on top to make them waterproof. I have been thinking about buying a laser printer, I find the print with the inkjet is not as crisp.

    Adding FOs to aftershave?

I have been adding FOs/NFOs/EOs directly to aftershaves thus far and the results seem to be ok thus far. My aftershaves do have some alcohol and little bit of olive oil in them. One of the things I have been noticing is separation of the oils(olive + FO). Is it worth adding products like this...

    Soap lye heavy??

Thanks for your response @AliOop , that makes me feel better. Yes, I had zero irritation while using the soap today. I almost feel like making a 0.5 lb batch of soap and intentionally making it lye heavy so that I can experience a "zap" :p. I have never felt it in any of my batches thus far...

    Soap lye heavy??

Hey experts, Relative newbie here, been making soap for a little over a year now and had my first soap making "issue". For some context, my shave soap recipe has 4 major ingredients and I use the HP method for my shaving soaps due to the high stearic acid content. Here is what happened - I...

My first shaving soap is a success!

Hey there, Yes, this thread has served as the seed for many soap making ventures I think! Certainly was the case for me, I read this thread 5 times before making my first batch of shaving soap, tried all possible variations, tested everything throughly, did my research before deciding to...

    Colloidal Oatmeal Shaving Soap Question

Hey folks, I had a quick question about colloidal oatmeal. I add glycerin at 15% after my HP cook and my overall Stearic+Palmitic content is at 54%, I am considering adding colloidal oatmeal for additional slip. Context - I used my Nutribullet to grind rolled oats and sifted them through my...

Seeking feedback on shaving soap recipe

All, I am trying my hands at making men's shaving soap and would really appreciate if the experienced soapers can help me tweak it to my liking. Here is my current recipe: Stearic Acid 50% Coconut Oil 30% Shea Butter 10% Castor Oil 10% I use a 80/20 KOH/NaOH ratio for my lye. This is a HP...

    Glossy Label Inkjet Printer question

My labels are black with a very light gray(almost white) text on it. I managed to print them successfully on white glossy weather proof labels from Online Labels using my HP inkjet. See above posts, the printer only uses the color cartridge when printing on glossy media as ink from black...

    Orange/Patchouli/Cedarwood CP soap

I recently tried Blood Orange EO and Texan Cedarwood(EO) blend in my shaving soap. I hated it initially, but as the soap has cured over the past 3 weeks, I have come to not hate the scent as much. I am going to try this blend next as I have these EOs lying around. Blood Orange 25% Lavender...
