What soapy thing have you done today?

Cut my confetti soap. I was worried that one batch was too thin when I poured but that's the one that looks the best! The base color on the 2nd one didn't turn out like I planned. It was supposed to be light gray but turned out more of a taupe. The confetti doesn't contrast enough but I was...

When your family doesn't realize how bad your addiction is...

So my sister called me one day to say that she had some essential oils she didn't want anymore and wanted to know if I could use them for my soaping hobby. I quickly responded that of course I wanted them, you can never have too many. Well, imagine my surprise when she handed me this... Of...

    Modified Tapioca Starch

Ok I did a quick comparison. Ultra-Tex 3 (UT-3) is a modified tapioca starch, it's on the left in the pic. UT-3 is whiter in appearance, Natrasorb is cream color. When I rubbed a little between my fingers, UT-3 felt a little grainier, Natrasorb was very smooth. They both absorb FO the same...

What soapy thing have you done today?

It's reassuring to hear that someone as talented as you have struggles as well. It makes me realize there's hope for me yet! I feel like everything I've done lately has been an epic fail. Ugh!

    Modified Tapioca Starch

I'll let you know when I got home from work. I just got 4mular Ultratex 3 Tapioca Starch from Amazon to compare with Natrasorb. I don't think they're interchangeable though. Natrasorb dissolves in water and the other gels up.

    Aleppo Soap

Where did you get your LBO? I made five test batches last year that I'm going to start testing in May. I got my oil from Bescented. I don't think any of mine look as nice (or as light) as yours. Maybe because I tried 50/50?? My first two batches I did 40% lye concentration because I ASSumed...

    Adding td to batch oils

I just saw her video a few days ago. I don't use TD too often and only have the water type that I premix in a bottle with bearings. According to the video, you only have to stir in the TD using her method, no SB required. Do you find that as well? I might have to get a small amount of the oil...

    BeScented FO

Hello, Yes, I do use BeScented and have had pretty good luck. Her shipping is reasonable for me (comparatively speaking), she ships pretty fast and she answers emails. I like her micas as well. The one con that I have is that there aren't many reviews posted.

    Stuck on the OPW

I haven't been making much soap lately, but today I made two batches of ZNSC using beach water I collected last weekend and as I was making them I realized I was making them both OPW. One batch I did in an Ombre theme (motivated by the August Challenge) but had some trouble telling the...

What soapy thing have you done today?

This whole soaping journey is a rabbit hole 🃏 Yes, it's so stinky! The Earth Meets Sky & Spearmint EO blend is smelling much better so I'm hopeful it will work out. Thank you for including the thread link - interesting read. I am curious to see if my Aleppo develops DOS with both high oleic and...
