    Spearmint EO experiences

I’ve only used the Eucalyptus Spearmint EO/FO from WSP and it is eyewateringly strong. It’s like really in your face gum smell. I wish I liked it! 😬

    I found 99% Isopropyl

These were a game changer. They are not bulky, very sturdy—and easy to sanitize.

I need help with a design PLEASE!!!

Hmm. A combination of soap dough and sculpted layers might work but it would be very difficult to execute. If it were me I might choose a less intricate and equally iconic image to capture from the movie. If your set on this image an inlay might produce the best results for a fraction of the...

    Don't Panic

Thank you. I needed that reminder. I also never knew that about cold water in a seize. 😊

    Want to increase hardness.

I’ve just had a very positive soaping experience with a low percentage of high temp soy wax. I was able to soap at 90F with plenty of time for designs. I’m wondering if it’s finicky about overheating, I got a very slight superficial alien brain from CPOPing at 170F. I’m wondering how much soy I...

    Organic cocoa butter in soapmaking

I like cocoa butter in the 15-20 range. I don’t use palm or animal fats currently so it’s a nice way to help bump the longevity with high oleic soaps. It’s pricey so I’m trying to use less for that reason.

    Candle help.

I don’t have any experience with Wellington fragrances. My go to’s are usually Candle Science, Wholesale Supplies Plus, Candle Cocoon and I sometimes dabble and check out other suppliers. Nature’s Garden usually gets great reviews they are next on my list to try. You’re going to find hits and...

How to incorporate mica properly into oil?

Battery operated mini milk frothers make speedy work of incorporating mica into oil. I got a $6 IKEA model on Amazon Prime.

    Candle help.

I haven’t used stearic acid in candles so I can’t weigh in on that. I have experience with 464 and C3. I have noticed for soy wax that a good cure can make an ok candle a great one. Also there are a lot of weak or subtle fragrances out there and sometimes it takes a little trial and error to...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Mine is a very very dark green because I was an ***** and bought a gallon of unrefined before I figured out that it wasn’t very ideal for soap. I have about half left and I never really noticed it messing with color too much until I decided to use 20% in a recipe. I’m going to soldier on a...

What soapy thing have you done today?

I soaped for the first time at 90F. I usually soap at 110. Holy bananas I had so much time for activities, swirls and twiddles. I also successfully soaped with high temp soy wax at a low %. I’ve discovered my love for Mad Oils Earl Grey in soap (it’s also phenomenal in candles btw). I’m...

    My First Seize!

Oh I have the Olive EO/FO—I didn’t notice the flag about acceleration. I think I bought it for kitchen candles and the throw sucked so I shelved it to soap with. I’m so glad I saw this. Sorry about the seize.

    Bulk Apothecary Rant

They make a few fragrance oils that I like but their business model is infuriating. They took forever to restock before the pandemic and now it’s even worse. They don’t test their fragrances and I’m convinced that they screen and filter their fragrance reviews.

    My first bars...lard bars

My early experiments with high shea/cocoa butter bars have a luxurious creamy lather at the sink but are rather disappointing in the shower after an 8 week cure. I do have one that knocked my socks off with how nice it was in the shower—the only difference was that I used AVJ for all of my...

    Patchouli Haters Gonna Hate...

I’ve always liked the ‘witches brew’ patchouli blend FO types but funny enough I don’t think I’ve ever smelled any versions of the EO.

    Rose suggestions for Rose Haterz

I do not like powdery old fashioned rose scents and strangely I don’t think I know know many people who really do. I would like to try a rose scent that is nice and rich but not, for lack of a better word gross? 😂 I have some nice FO’s like ‘Rose Quartz’ and ‘Rose Gold’ from BB but those are...

Why don't you like olive oil?

Is HO Sunflower practically interchangeable with HO Safflower? I’m looking to cut some costs on olive oil and I can get either locally.
