SMF February 2020 challenge - Ione swirl

Thank you Frenchy :) I had two attempts at this, one in square and one tall and skinny. Here are the results. They are coloured with 4 clays. I think they are not too bad :)

SMF February 2020 challenge - Ione swirl

I just had a go. I got the impression I was mixing up the colours so they will all end up one colour, it just felt like too much movement. Now I have to wait until tomorrow for the great unveiling. Oh, the anticipation :)

    Tallow shaving soap

When it has dried out a bit I will find someone to test it on :). It feels quite creamy.

SMF February 2020 challenge - Ione swirl

This was my first hanger swirl. I have not managed to do one that I like as much since this one. It is made with 4 colours of clay. I would like to try that technique though. I am not eligible for the competition but I am going to enjoy looking at all your pictures :)

    Tallow shaving soap

My brushes arrived today so I gave it a try. I think it looks fine despite the low stearic.

It is very early in Indianapolis, maybe he will reply when he reads this. Yeah - I should have noted the all NaOH too- it might be vital.

    Tallow shaving soap

OK, Thanks. Maybe in a week or so it will. I wish I could find that thread though. It was quite old but if that person is still here he might be able to tell me how long before it is bubbly. It was old - maybe 2013 or 14.

    Tallow shaving soap

No none. I came across that thread because I was trying to find one without stearic acid. So it is mainly tallow.

    Tallow shaving soap

Hello, I found an old thread on here where a member said that he had used mainly tallow in his shave soap, a little olive oil and castor and dual lye, he had used avocado oil for super fat. Of course, I can't find that thread now! So I made some. I didn't have avocado oil so used some hemp oil...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Very nice clean white bars. They are still just a little soft. Waiting is the hardest part :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I rendered 4 kilos of Ostrich fat. Next week I will be making tiny batches of soap with it to give to the Ostrich farmer. I have no idea what the soap will be like but an interesting project :) Goat's milk and Ostrich oil maybe?

Best Anchor/Fixative for an Orange Essential Oil?

Thank you Zany. I will give that a go. It will have to be the absolute as I am trying to create an all-natural range, colours, scents and other additives. And I thought it would be easy haha . . .

Best Anchor/Fixative for an Orange Essential Oil?

Would May Chang anchor a spicy blend? I just made a soap coloured with paprika and turmeric. It looks lovely but has very little scent after only 2 days. The blend I used for 1.5 litres was: - 4.5 g Black pepper EO 18 g Ginger root EO 18 g Clary sage EO 4.5 g Cinnamon Leaf EO

Looks very smart. You will have to let us know how it works for you. :)

What soapy thing have you done today?

I tried to use an X-ray image as a divider. Wasn't sure so only divided a single bar mould and made a tiny batch. It seemed to work fine but then when I washed the slip of plastic the black came off. So I won't be using x-rays again. Nothing ventured . . . .

What made you pick your avatar/ username?!

My name is real. My avatar is a Panda - it's black, white, Asian and, in this case, wearing the French red beret. For me, it represents being international.
