    Soap in a Metal Tin

I came across this old thread searching for information on using aluminium tins. I have seen a lot of shaving soap sold in little tins. I was going to try making soap and then curing it before putting it in the tin to see what happens. The disadvantage of this method is finding the exact size...

    Oat milk in soap making

I have found that adding it at trace makes like easier for me. I use a 50:50 lye solution and the rest of the water as oat milk added at trace, which happens very quickly.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Like a stand mixer. :nodding: Yes - just like that.

What soapy thing have you done today?

I bought a paint stirring thing to go on a drill yesterday. This morning I have been stirring my liquid soap to get the last of the lumps out. Much easier than using a whisk. Now I just need to find a way to suspend it so I don't need to actually be there. Yep, I know I am lazy :)

Curing and Ventilation in warm climates

Hey, good luck with making your first batch. My soap space is a converted caravan - think breaking bad - so I have heat and humidity in the Summer. I find that running an air conditioning unit with a built in dehumidifier works really well.

    Some of my latest soaps.

These are lovely. I have a tall and skinny mould crying out for use. Like you, I am drowning in soap as there are no outlets right now. Best wishes for the future out of lockdown :)

    Curdled LS after salting

Oh no - just came back to look at this post and I can see I uploaded some weird pictures - yes, that is what I got up to in lockdown. So how do I delete those pictures?

    Curdled LS after salting

I don’t have a very good picture. It looks like milk when it goes off with stringy solids on the top and thin liquid on the bottom. Yes, it is a lot. I should have made a test batch first. Thank you 😊 I put it on the stove and heated it adding a little more water. It now looks fine if a...

    Curdled LS after salting

Good morning :) I didn't know whether to post in the beginner's thread or this one but here goes. I made my third ever batch of LS. It looked lovely and glossy but a little thin. So I added some brine water. I think I added too much as it has curdled. I now have 5 litres of curds and whey. Can...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Noooo I so wanted to make my wine soap today but I just went into my soap room and OH used the last of my lye to unblock the drains. SOB - that is a cry sob and not calling him a SOB although . . . . . .
