    Mixing soap with a surfactant

Thank you 😊 So I should just be able to pour some in to the finished liquid soap. That is handy as I can do it little at a time and see what the result is :)

    Mixing soap with a surfactant

Hello there, I have a liquid soap recipe that I am happy with, it works well. I don' like in on my hair and OH wants a shower gel rather than a liquid soap. So I am going to try adding a surfactant. My choice is CAPB. I have never done this before so hopefully, they will mix well with a little...

    Titanium dioxide and seizing

thank you 😊 OK thank you 😊. The clay is to anchor the EOs but I could use something else for that, cornstarch maybe.

    Titanium dioxide and seizing

Thank you. I will have a try with a white mica instead. Sorry but I don’t know. I work in grams so 2.5 grams in 500 grams of oil.

    Titanium dioxide and seizing

Hello, I am trying to slightly whiten a creamy soap and so added a little TD, about 0.5% of the oils. This batter also had some white clay which I use as an EO fixative. I have used the clay before with no problem but this time with the TD the soap seized. Reading about it I understand this can...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I made a soap with coconut milk and aloe vera. I put it in the fridge as soon as it was made in the hope that it will not gel and so stay whiter. I have never done this before so fingers crossed.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Today I wrapped and labeled baby soaps for an event tomorrow. I have no idea if many people will turn up but I have to try. I have so much soap it is overtaking the house :)

    Rosemary CO2 turning soap yellow.

You are right. I should have checked that. The supplier recommends 0.02 to 0.05% so I have overdone it. I will have to see what happens with this one over time. Hopefully it will not be too yellow tomorrow :): Thanks for your help.

    Rosemary CO2 turning soap yellow.

Thanks for your reply DeeAnna. Yes, I am using it as an antioxidant and it is sold as an antioxidant. Thank you for the dosage recommendation - this was my first time using it and I had seen that Kevin Dunn recommended 1 gram. If I can use less than I will go ahead. I do have the technical...

    Rosemary CO2 turning soap yellow.

Hello. I made a recipe that I have made a number of times but added 1 gram of Rosemary CO2 to 1 litre of oils. All looked perfectly as normal until the lye went in. This soap is normally cream turning whiter as it cures. This time the lye went in and the batter became yellow. It’s quite a nice...

Hello evryone , from France !

Bonjour. I am in France as well and have just started a small business. So far I only have 4 assessed recipes. To get white you might try a little arrowroot and put the soap in the fridge so that it does not gel. You don’t need much and it has the advantage of helping to fix EOs too. Have you...

Liquid oozing out of wine soap

It is not FO in my case as I don't use any but good to know for if/when I do :) This is why I tried to boil out all the alcohol. I thought maybe I hadn't boiled it enough. Glad you figured it out though. Today I bought some dealcoholized wine. I am going to try a test batch using that and see...

Liquid oozing out of wine soap

Did you find what this was in the end? I too have oozing wine soap. I had thought that maybe I hadn't boiled the wine for long enough and this was the alcohol that was not saponified.

    Shaving soap in Aluminium tin

What about uncured soap, would that make a difference? It is aluminium, which I understand you can't pour CP into.

    Shaving soap in Aluminium tin

Hello, questions about tins. I know aluminium reacts badly with lye or unsaponified soap. I have seen a lot of shaving soap sold in little alu tins. I was going to try making soap and then curing it before putting it in the tin to see what happens. The disadvantage of this method is finding the...
