Thank you! I do, it has rich, creamy bubbles and a lovely fragrance as well. Truly, one of my best soaps.

    Making shampoo & conditioners

Just to clarify, are you looking to make soap and use it as shampoo? Or are you looking to jump into synthetic detergents? It's kinda two different universes. My two cents it that if your hair is already damaged, the alkalinity of soap might not be your friend, but some people's hair seems ok...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Me too. And for what it's worth, if you're staying within safety rates for skin, the odds that your hair is going to fall out are relatively slim. That still leaves how it makes your hair feel, but you'll be able to feel that within the first use of it, and odds are you have conditioner of some...

New and Wondering about these Retailers?

Wholesale Supply Plus and Brambleberry for FOs and small amounts of specialty oils and butters, and Mad Micas and Nurture Soap for colors. Lotion Crafter also has a bunch of stuff, but I haven't soaped with anything from them. Bitter Creek's Vanilla Color Stabilizer is fantastic, haven't done...

Things going out instead of coming in counts! Making decisions and getting rid of things takes effort and brain power. Great work!

    Lotion bar recipe question

Just a little observation- that does appear to be an emulsion, since it contains emulsifying wax and water. Basically, lotion. And while oil/fat/wax combos like lotion bars can keep your skin from losing water as quickly, they don't add water back, which is what emulsified lotions, body butters...

    Syndet Shampoo Bar Trials

Oh, I know I need a new organizational system, but staying organized is so much work!.. and I just haven't tackled it in earnest yet. PS-80 was to help the oils incorporate into the SCI mixture. SCI has a gentle reputation because it doesn't tend to bond as well with oils, which is just a little...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Sadly, the English language seems to cap the amount of unpleasant emotion that can be politely expressed in one word. Beyond that, the thesaurus might be useful if you need to express your emotions in a new way.

Botanicals on soap tops smell bad after a shower

This is why most of us don't put large chunks of plant material in or on our soap: it becomes unpleasant when it gets wet. The solution is to not use plant matter in soap, or to make it possible to remove it all before use. You could use silk or plastic instead, so it's easier to remove, or...

    Syndet Shampoo Bar Trials

Oh, I'd have to hunt down the scrap of paper I wrote that particular formula on. Cocamidapropyl betaine was probably a small percentage, and a little Polysorbate 80 might have been in there too. I shampoo my hair daily, so my formulations tend to be weak compared to commercial ones. ETA...

    Syndet Shampoo Bar Trials

I'm more of a mad scientist with my bars, and constantly tweak ingredients and numbers just to see what happens. However, the most I've gone is 50% SCI, and found it too harsh even with 20% oils and the rest E-waxes and whatnot.

    Syndet Shampoo Bar Trials

I'm not sure I'm not sure I understand the question: are you looking to make a shampoo that dyes your hair blonde? Or just make a shampoo with pretty colors that won't affect your hair? If you're looking to actively dye your hair blonde via shampoo, I'm not sure how to go about that without...

    Hi all!

With higher superfat, you're still making the same amount of soap as a smaller batch, you're just dumping more oil down the drain in addition to that and making your soap less effective at cleaning. Please believe me, with all of the individuals selling soap on here, if raising the SF was an...

    Simple Design Suggestions?

My suggestions: - 2-toned ombre - Ghost swirl - A single color soap, perhaps with a larger-grain Mica that shimmers through it (King Tut Gold from Mad Micas remains the most impressive I've seen, Snowflake Sparkle from Nurture Soap is good but can be a little gritty), figure-8 swirl on a flat...

    Soap's In Shower

4 soaps, plus syndet shampoo and conditioner bar, and that is sadly all the space I have there. Anyways, my most recent oatmeal-honey soap wound up in use after only 2 weeks of curing, and that is absolutely not normal for me, but I was just that impressed with it. A 50% Avo soap ended up in...
