    Sausage fat? :-o

I think someone around here did a bacon and coffee soap, with coffee as the liquid a while back. Maybe some cream, too? It was a few months back, and I forget which FO was used, but breakfast soap is not unheard-of. 😁

    Reheating Oils

I heat those all the time. I frequently heat them above 180°f, and no browning/burning, odor, or other funny business. I'm sure if you heated them hot enough, you might run into some trouble somewhere, but I frequently use my liquid oils to melt the beeswax or stearic acid if I'm using those.

    Monk fruit in lip balm

Oh, @AliOop , one of the new things I was playing with was Cera Bellina wax from WSP https://www.wholesalesuppliesplus.com/products/Cera-Bellina-Wax.aspx#Directions It's a beeswax-derived emulsifier, and it's a tad pricey compared to e-waxes, but it didnt take much to finally get my pesky...

    Need Advice Regarding Embeds

You could even score the top once the soap set up a little, before it gelled, to make that step little easier. If you're worried about adhesion, you could spritz the top with distilled water about 15-30 minutes before putting the new soap on it.

    Need Advice Regarding Embeds

That is beautiful! Another option could be to leave the M&P off and gel as usual, then mix up a small batch of soap to glue the flowers on after. For now, I would assume the M&P won't take the heat, and try not to gel the soap.

SMF February 2021 Challenge - Circling Taiwan Swirl

Hmm... Well, I'm off to search the internets for acrylic pour techniques. Just in case the knowledge comes in handy at some point in the near future for some reason.

    Monk fruit in lip balm

Well, I tried infusing 1/8th tsp in 5g meadowfoam. It didn't get as warm so it wasn't as strong, and I was only able to get 1.26 g through the paper, so the sweetness level wasn't much higher than last time. I can only use so much lip balm, and I'm getting tired, so I'll resume my experiments...

SMF February 2021 Challenge - Circling Taiwan Swirl

Lol, I did 5 tries, I think, 6 over the last 5 weeks. I can't actually remember them all. To be fair, they were all different recipes that I was planning to make anyways. Except for the one that I just did to use ingredients I didn't want, and hated the results so much (aside from fragrance and...

    Monk fruit in lip balm

Ok, my lip balms are still chilling, but of course I've tasted my lip balms. The extracts are a bit bitter, which I knew, and 20% of 1/8th tsp isn't a lot of sweetness, but it's enough to balance it out without the lip balm reading sweet or too bitter. I think for future batches, since I'm...

    Monk fruit in lip balm

Ok, after much searching for monk fruit that is only monk fruit without erythritol or other sweeteners, isn't water-based, alcohol-based, or propylene glycol-based, is available to people who don't own a business, is available in amounts less than 20lbs or something outrageous, and is written in...

Any feedback for my facial soap recipe?

My brain is a little fuzzy (tired), but here's my recollection: Essential oils do not contain triglycerides (if that's the correct word) unless they've been adulterated/diluted with oil, so they do not have a sap value.

What soapy thing have you done today?

Waiting for voting results, and holding off on additional soaping until the next challenge comes out. 😁 Meanwhile, I've made a hair conditioner bar, my first foray into e-wax with an emulsified body butter (thick, creamy lotion), some lotion bars(that aren't lotion) that I'm trying some new...

SMF February 2021 Challenge - Circling Taiwan Swirl

Voting is such a personal choice, of course, and there are very good reasons we can't see how we all voted, or how the entries ranked after top 3. For me, it feels a little like an election, so I vote for myself (and others). We're given three votes, so I'm promptly voting against mine twice. I...

Yes! Exactly! I'd still start with a small batch just to be sure, but let us know how it goes.

    Soap Dough Techniques

Wait, if the pull-through recipe gives good dough, why wouldn't you make a batch of that for dough?
