My goat milk soap keeps cracking on top

I'm usually wiping and cleaning a few things along the way and getting my molds ready ~ I don't have a lot of space so I wait until just before I'm ready to blend everything together ๐Ÿ˜„ I should probably say I also mix my lye solution in a lye safe plastic container ~ so I don't have to worry...

My goat milk soap keeps cracking on top

I'm not an expert by any means so I'm just guessing ~ but maybe it's in the percentage of liquid (?). When I was actively making GM soap, I would use the GM for 100% of my lye solution liquid, freeze it solid, put the milk cubes in a container and slowly pour in the lye flakes, usually all at...

Experiment: Scent Fixing & Gel Phase

I really think it does ~ not sure about the logic behind it, other than maybe it actually gets infused with the scent also ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ but I had tried just clay and EOs and it didn't seem to work but the slurry sure did. I think the buds absorbed some too ~ plus, after it has been sitting in the jar...

Experiment: Scent Fixing & Gel Phase

I'm team "Slurry"! I thought EOs were going to be the answer to my prayers for scents in soap since in can't use fragrance oils, but soon learned their scents don't last. And then I read about the magical Slurry that could help anchor the scents ๐Ÿช„๐Ÿ’ซ๐ŸŒŸ and I mixed up a jar of lavender EO and whole...

    Where to find clays

I don't recall the original ingredients list ~ my order came in a little ziplock baggie with a printed sticker label, but that was the batch I made slurry with and used lavender buds and the clay in the oil and it sat in the jar for a good while until I made the soap. It came to a rich dark...

    Where to find clays

The fabulous Brazilian purple clay I have came from Windy Point, but since then I haven't seen many clays on their site ~ I check periodically because I would most certainly buy from them again because that Brazilian clay was absolutely worth every penny ๐Ÿฅฐ

    Kaleidoscope happiness!!

I was thinking the same thing ๐Ÿคฃ All of the soaps are beautiful ~ hard to pick favorites but I like the circus monkeys and Gothic winter the best ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

But these 2 colors together are ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ Those tiny stars are adorable ๐Ÿ˜ I bet you will have fun with those! I'm right there with you ~ I also suck at combining multiple colors ๐Ÿ˜„ and prefer to fall back one what I know (single colors). I like to be surprised by natural color combo variations ๐Ÿ˜„

What soapy thing have you done today?

I know you were struggling and it didn't turn out as expected but I like the muted colors that I see in the mold ~ can't wait to see it cut! I have tried but I never got my (natural) colors) different enough to notice them ~ but it sure is fun experimenting!

    Castille

Just my 2ยข but I'm a purest when it comes to this type of terminology. The term Castile, just like Aleppo, indicates something very specific ~ and the court that decided otherwise is just plain ignorant to that fact. It's a specific reference to a specific type of soap made a specific way to...

    Castille

That could be the soap's name! What a conversation starter turn selling point!

That's a great idea to make a batch now to put away and let it cure the full year for next Christmas! EDIT TO ADD: Of course, cut it into bars so it can cure thoroughly during the coming year! ๐Ÿ˜‰

What soapy thing have you done today?

Just curious ~ can the oils and butters not normally available be sent to you by someone else? Or is that a no-no? I'm not very familiar with foreign shipping rules or laws ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

What soapy thing have you done today?

I like it ~ it has a very natural earthy tone to it ๐Ÿฅฐ

I agree with @Elise it does depend on your ratios (most people go with a ratio of 80% olive:20% laurel berry, but some do 70:30 or even 90:10). But with all high percentage olive oil recipes, longer cure times make for a better soap for sure! I have used some of mine at the 3-4 month mark, but...
