The (overly) Cartesian Soaper: Palmitic vs Stearic Question

Gosh, I thought it'd be fun to see if there's a difference in supply of oils in france and I'm shocked! I checked out colruyt, since that's where I get my refined olive oil for frying. If I search for 'oil' in the Dutch version of the Belgian colruyt, I get 166 results, in the French version of...

I guess Belgians enjoy frying more 🤣

The (overly) Cartesian Soaper: Palmitic vs Stearic Question

I think your recipe sounds pretty good! I've heard some soapers mention poly unsaturated oils lather pretty well, so maybe that could be something you could explore for more lather if you don't want to up the lauric/myristic? - just be aware of DOS... Yup, it was quite nice soap, just really...

The (overly) Cartesian Soaper: Palmitic vs Stearic Question

Not sure if this is useful to you (probably not), but I wanted to chime in because I think it's an interesting discussion. A bit more than a year ago I tried to make soaps that approaches the FA profile of a high lard soap (80% lard, 20% CO, 5% sf). FA profile: 10 Lauric, 5 Myristic, 24...

Entry thread for the October 2020 Challenge - Tall and Skinny Shimmy

I will @bookreader451 . I really hope people didn't get frustrated or disappointed with this technique. I tend to enjoy making really technical soaps and I think that reflects in my challenges. I'm already thinking about how to make the next one more rewarding for everyone ;)

    Confetti Soap Ideas

I think both are possible and it depends on personal preference which method you use (do you mind doing a bit of math or do you mind having leftover batter in smaller molds)

October 2020 Challenge - Tall and Skinny Shimmy

I'm so sorry about all the troubles you had @earlene . I hope you'll have a few relaxing days now after all that! ;) I'm not sure about the height.. With is important and should be very slim, I'm not sure how height impacts the design other than that it should compensate for the with to get a...

October 2020 Challenge - Tall and Skinny Shimmy

I'm so sorry your later attempts didn't work out as well as your first one @AliOop ! The deadline is officially tomorrow at 11:59 GMT, but since that is the middle of the night (for me locally - for you it's probably early evening), I might not be able to close the entry thread in time.. Would...

October 2020 Challenge - Tall and Skinny Shimmy

@glendam I also see a difference in shimmy between end bars and middle bars.. I blame my (cardboard) mold for bulging in the middle. I've also heard the opposite: people who tend to pour less on the edges when going back and forth and therefore have better middle bars (now that I think about it...

Happy to have you on board @Peachy Clean Soap ! As @Jersey Girl said, the 'blobs' refer to the shape of the wall pours. I called it that because 'pours' can be confusing if you do several layers before switching sides.. ;)
