That's an excellent point! The way I interpret that rule is that only the final soap should be made after the challenge thread is posted, I think the ingredients (soap dough/shreds) can be made before. I think the main goal of that rule is to prevent someone from entering an old soap that fits...

I think salted out soap will be difficult to make soap dough from.. It's generally made by curing soap without exposure to air to keep the moisture trapped in the soap, which keeps it moldable (it's a good use for leftover soap batter). Side note: You can make soap dough from any type of batter...

I remember going back and checking the soaps that I kept in the basement, but apparently I didn't write back about it. I think the ones in the basement were perfectly fine, but I got rid of them during the move last year, so I can't go back and double check.

Here's my entry picture for this month. Since this was my first soap in a while the inspiration was 'easy'. I used an easy to control recipe and some annatto and alkanet Infusion that I had on hand. Even though I slipped up halfway though the pour, the upper bars still made nice cuts.

I didn't want to sign up until I was sure I had an entry.. The bars from lower half of the cylinder are nowhere near a lollipop thanks to my little slip up halfway through, but the 4 bars from the top half of the cylinder are ok :) And yes, I still have more than a year (maybe even 2) of soaps...
