can you comment on my recipe

@winusuren do you have access to olive oil made somewhere nearby, maybe the middle east? I can't be sure but maybe those will be less adulterated... You'd have to do research. As with Megan I love rice bran oil and I've actually replaced olive oil with it in all my recipes, not just half. For...

    70% Rice Bran Oil soap

Share the love I always say! You're welcome hehe.. I use about 1.5 teaspoon per 500g. My batches nowadays are usually at about 2kgs more or less, my molds make 20 bars. I think the only oil I have that's labeled cold processed is Castor Oil and here I've not seen any other. Everything else...

    70% Rice Bran Oil soap

I am unaware of any unrefined RBO labeled as such, if it exists at all, just cold processed. I guess you just have to do a ton of research and see what extraction process has been used if its the chemicals you're worried about, but cold processed is what a lot of soapers use I think, also for...

    70% Rice Bran Oil soap

@winusuren that's too bad about the olive oil I wonder if they sold you old stock? I'm aware of Limeart, my SO has visited them and made some inquiries for me (he's from Coimbatore). I'd complain if it was me haha. Do you have pics of that soap by any chance? You could post them and maybe we...

What soapy thing have you done today?

@Zing I shall now be forever thinking of you whenever I see Brad Pitt....... Today I started putting together my Christmas offering this year. Won't be as nice as last year but at least people won't forget me when they're buying Christmas gifts lol. Scouting for packaging materials as we speak...

    Rice/potato soap makers:

I agree with the above regarding the lather.. I use rice powder in all my soaps, but the addition of the rice water and the slurry in my triple rice changes the feel of the lather. To me it's kind of creamy with a touch of silky I guess you can call it..

    Where is our reality show?

@Zing I only saw it now lol and I'm laughing out loud over here And my brain is scrambling to make a script/lyrics incorporating the slapping n banging lol

    Rice/potato soap makers:

I have experimented with not using all three rice ingredients and yes, it's the triple one that's the hardest, with the one just having the rice water the "softest." As for sugar n salt.. I'll have to go back to check my notes if I've tried any of my rice soaps without either or both.

@Soaplizard those look eatable! Happy birth month @LynetteO! @Zing and @Catscankim looking forward to whatever pics y'all are posting next @Ugeauxgirl I like those.. And you're right that is a very pretty swirl As for myself... Today... Just cleaning up soap, and soap racks, and soap molds...

    The “M” Challemge

Thank you! Hehehe I am? I do use the essential oil quite often, and the carrier oil of the same fruit/tree (pili) in some formulations, but I have not yet touched the resin that I have. Guess I have to now, huh?

    Refined shea vs unrefined

What days haha that still happens here :P

    The “M” Challemge

So now that I've read that again... My takeaways are: 1. Go look for the microbatching threads mentioned 2. Experiment with the resins I have the way you used the mastic tears

    Replace crock pot for HP

In interested in this too.. All my slow cookers were bought second hand or given and I still have no idea what I should look for to know when to replace them. That being said... My ceramic liners have never been shiny in a long time LOL

    Mediterranean Blend ?

You're welcome! Now as to how you're going to calculate how much of your oils will amount to these percentages...... Ugh, math.. I hope you don't suck at it like I do coz I tried but nope, not gonna anymore LOL Figuring that should curb your urge to soap this today haha

    Additives and Lather (Bubbles)

In a few of my soaps there is a very small noticeable difference between plain NaOH and dual lye... Almost tiny. I really need to get myself some aloe juice the plants never made enough before they got flooded and now they never will lol Thank you for this @dibbles! Edit: I'll gladly store...

Thread titles and my very strange mind.

Can cold-process soap have base? Yep! Didn't ya know? It's all about the base, no treble I'm weird. My brain just started singing that and that song actually annoys me lol

    Hot off the presses

I like! Rustic yet very "gentlemanly" and classy

    My trace

How slow is soo slow? I once hand mixed 100% olive oil and that was sooooo slow haha

    Refined shea vs unrefined

Me neither. Not in soap at least. Here though unrefined is about 25% more expensive than refined. I happen to love the scent of unrefined shea and it adds label appeal, and since I use it for my lotion bars I use the same in soap coz I didn't think I wanted to be bothered by two separate...

Coconut oil and other great oils

I agree with this. For my soap I melt my butters (too hot here to need to melt coconut oil lol) in the microwave but when I'm making lotion bars I melt them in order of "increasing sensitivity" to heat so wax first, then butters, then oils. I can't remember now but I got this idea when I read...
