    Trying spider silk

I used a face cream with snail slime, it was really nice without being heavy or greasy. I'd like to try a better quality one

    CPOP temps?

I kept it at 150 for a couple hours and it gelled perfectly. I'll have to try cavity molds next time

@Zany_in_CO have you ever tried borage in soap? I had a plant spontaneously appear in the veggie patch this year

I just cut them. Need to clean them up and get better pics during the day

You should try it with a splash of nag champa, adds a exotic spicy incense note

    What did you eat today?

I ate a box of jalapeno poppers and now it feels like I have a belly full of acid. Thats what happens when a lactose intolerant person ignores the problem and eats way too much dairy

    CPOP temps?

I want to try and force gel in a 1 lb silicon loaf mold using a toaster oven. I prewarmed to 260 before adding the soap but the little oven cools off really fast so I want to use the keep warm function. What would be a good temp? I sat it to 150 but I don't know if it will be enough. I poured...

Thanks. I wish I could get a true to life pic but the gold is too reflective and it males it look gritty. Maybe once its cut it will behave better

    Trying spider silk

I wasn't able to clean my silk, too much dirt between each layer. I'll have to head down in the basement and check the rafters

    A new one today

Trying to come up with creative ways to use some 1/2 oz FO samples I was given. This one has half the batter scented with BB relaxing with is vanilla heavy and should discolor dark. I didn't add color. Other half is patchouli EO with a splash of nag champa FO, colored with a bright pink mica...

    Trying spider silk

Got my spides moved and the silk harvested. It dirty due to the fact they lay webbing down over the ground, hopefully I can get it clean enough to use

    Silk tie?

Yes, silk cloth will dissolve in lye. I use raw silkworm pods and have used unspun silk fibers before. Cut the cloth up into tiny bits, you want about a small cotton balls worth for a pound or two of soap. If all the bits don't dissolve, strain the lye solution through stainless steel mesh I...

    Thought I’d share

I've used my own soap and it works just as well.

    Fall soaps

Extra oil raises your superfat and can cause soft soap. Since yours doesn't seem soft or sticky, it will be fine. too much castor specifically can reduce lather but you'd need quite a lot extra. it would be helpful to know how much should have used and how much was actually used. Its really...

    Thought I’d share

One of my other hobbies is rock tumbling and often between the different size of grit, people run a little grated ivory and water to really clean the stones. Some people ask why ivory and everyone says because its pure so of course, I asked pure what? The most common answer its its pure, no...

    Trying spider silk

Yes, if I move them to a new cage, there is no way to move all the webbing so I could harvest it then. Most tarantulas don't make webs or maybe just a little bit but these are heavy webbers, to the point its going to be hard to wrangle them to move

    Trying spider silk

These are a temperamental species and their webbing is a intricate series of tunnels they live in. I'd be destroying their home but I do really need to move them to a bigger cage.

    Essential Oils Sweating..?

Fragrance can seep out if the soap overheats, so can glygerin or water. Often it will re-absord but if it doesn't, you can gently blot it off with a paper towel

    Who is using safflower?

I should just order from amazon. I have prime so most things ship for free. Even walmart is 30 miles away so I only go when I have too. Its one reason I design recipes with grocery store ingredients. hopefully going back to OO will fix the problem, if not I'll have to look into options to lower...

I have a tank of tarantulas full of silk, wonder if I could steal some without upsetting them too much
