Citric Acid in Zany's no slime castile?

I will actually react citric acid and lye ( sodium hydroxide) and then dry the liquid. That way I always have some sodium citrate for use in recipes. EG hit the nail on the head.

Citric Acid in Zany's no slime castile?

I would react the citric acid in water before making the faux sea water. That way you are not changing the lye discount ( superfat) in your recipe.

    Guilty Pleasures?

At least I didn't say anything about dipping whole frozen strawberries into melted milk chocolate. Oops...

    thickness of wood

Yes. But I consider "full water" to be 2 parts water to 1 part alkali (33%) so gel temperature would be higher than is usual in most all my recipes. Less water means that the gel phase is only available to the soap at higher temperatures. If I want to gel I will cover the mold with a 1x6 and...

What Do You Like About Salt Bars?

Have some that are 3 years on the basement bathroom sink. More like a cleansing cream than a lather now . Could be mistaken for shaving soap. I use that bathroom when I come in from the woods or garden rather well soiled. Love salt bars at 100 salt by weight of oils. And you can even swirl them...

    Guilty Pleasures?

That reminds me of the 90's. Eating too much. Of anything. Ice cream. Spending time in the kitchen. ( ALWAYS results in something like...) chocolate covered nut clusters, Cake Cake mix cookies. Dump cake ( look it up yourself I will NOT be responsible ) Cashew brittle ( made like peanut brittle...

    Let's talk about lard, baby

I use lard as a staple oil in my soaps. I do from time to time notice a smell but it's usually when I have overheated the hard oils. Sometimes though I get a pail that is "off". I do not soap commercially so I buy in small quantities and store in the fridge. The reason the OP may have trouble...

    Soap/Lye Calculators; A guide

The high cleansing number means the soap will remove lots of oil(s) from your skin. The low longevity number means it won't last long and tend to be very soluable.

    Eek! Run out of castor!

Use some aloe vera juice for liquid if you have access. Boosts lather better from what I have read.

    Playing with tipped layers

They both too about 1 hour minimum (each) to mold. The blue, green and white was done with the mold tipped and stable using honeysuckle hollow, pineapple mango and black amber musk FOs from Crafters Choice. Portions of the combined oils were split by weight after master batching. Each layer was...
