What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

When I'm not making for me I almost always go with lavender or citrus, just because everyone seems to like them. When I've asked people what kind of scent "family" they like (floral, citrus, green, spicy, musky, food, masculine/feminine, etc.), people almost always include citrus.

    Beeswax in Soap

@Bubz, this is the guide I usually follow when I make honey beeswax soap, it is by Irish Lass who is a great soaper and poster but rarely drops by these days. I found it extremely helpful, as have many others. It is really detailed/specific and fun to read and follow...

    Beeswax in Soap

I would raise a caution here, an oz/ppo is 6.25%, which is a lot of beeswax. I find that going over 3% makes melting more problematic, less lather, the bar feel, um, too waxy. Of course reasonable minds may differ on most things soap related, but @Bubz, you may want to start lower and then...

True, sticky lavender FO for CP?

Thanks, you guys! @glendam , that is so kind of you. I think I might take you up on that. I'll PM you in a bit. @dibbles, my lavender trials were mostly from my last soaping stint, I think I tried a bunch, did not really like most, but then found Soapapalooza's Tassi Lavender which I did...

    Pouring at emulsion

Me too, I like to do design work that requires at least three colors and often some extra thing like dividers/pull through discs, so I want to maximize working time, I know that if I divide the batter just before or scarcely at emulsion that will help. Also, mixing accelerating colors last...

    Soap setting up too fast.

The good thing is that you figured it out and it’s such an easy fix. That really does explain why the batter was getting so thick so fast, things will be so much easier now.

    Pouring at emulsion

As long as it's emulsified it's fine. Ie; the state of emulsion is such that the oils and liquid have blended so that they won't separate. As I understand it, trace is just a description of a phase of emulsion where the batter has thickened enough that you can trace a line in the top by...

What soapy thing have you done today?

If you're a natural colorant fan, you should check out Wild Plantanica's website, the owner uses only natural colorants and her soaps are so beautiful. She has an instagram as well, both are well worth looking at for inspiration.

    Sweet Cakes Fragrance Oils Reviews

I used (and loved) their True Rose and Econocuke, but they were both terrible accelerators, so I'm not as sad as I could have been that they're gone (and I found substitutes which are better behaved :)) SC has high quality oils, I think, but the cost of shipping and the lack of reviews make it...

True, sticky lavender FO for CP?

Thanks, Carolyn. Time to check out MMS.

True, sticky lavender FO for CP?

I am beginning to think that a truly good lavender FO is a unicorn. For some reason, I thought that finding one would be easy but over the years it has eluded me. If they're good OOB or in B&B they don't stick in CP, and if they stick in CP, they're not good! When I've searched here it seems...

    OTS FO's that stick?

Hello all, thinking of ordering from OTS and wondering if anyone had recommendations for scents that are good and that stick? My ride or die scents from there are Mysore Sandalwood, Bonsai and Gee Your Hair Smells Terrific (the last only for shampoo bars, though.) @Mobjack Bay, in a past post...

    Sweet Cakes Fragrance Oils Reviews

Their shipping costs were always one of the things that were a problem for me. The two FOs I religiously bought from them are no longer available, so I don't check them out anymore, in part large part because they don't post reviews. Have you soaped any of the FOs above? I don't rely on OOB...

    Delicate swirl

Me too. The hurricane swirl was a slab one, as well, not a loaf like this one seems to be? Though not sure about that. Beautiful either way.

How to know if you've used too much sugar?

I just searched under "sorbitol" and @AliOop :) Speaking of which, Ali, it seems like you have gone up in the sorbitol lately, am I right or did I increase my usage incorrectly? Seriously, @akseattle, there really is no rule on this, so for something like this I will do a search and see if...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

Those guys are pretty funny about additives. There are a couple that they love, but they are dismissive of almost all of them as just label appeal.

    Hey there! Welcome.

What soapy thing have you done today?

@MomInWA, I love the Bonsai and Mysore Sandalwood from OTS as well. I like my FOs really strong, and the OTS Bonsai is the strongest FO I have ever tested, the only one where I back down a little from 1 oz ppo in CP. I will note that it might be a love it or hate it scent, both of my sisters...

    Favorite WSP fragrances?

@Mobjack Bay , this is an old thread, but I googled the Tasmanian Pepperberry out of curiosity and it's on sale from $113 to $68 for 15 oz. Still not a "paint me yellow and call me a cab" type sale, but maybe enough for a big splurge :) I would want to know what the remaining shelf life is...

    So Stolked!!

I came back after a stretch away and was shocked at the established businesses which had gone away. And especially how much supplies had gone up. It must be even worse for you (my hiatus was only seven years and it seemed like some FO companies had almost doubled their prices.)
