Beard Balm - I guess I want an uncommon consistency - Is it possible?

@Sarah B interesting, I could not find it for purchase as a wax, just as a butter, where do you get yours if you don’t mind me asking?

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

Oh it’s pricey but from what I hear, worth it. They will start advertising it when they open it (enrollment opens twice a year, in the summer and winter.). If I remember correctly it is around 1k and they have a six month payment plan. But they themselves say to learn as much as you can from...

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

Agreed! I like her videos and have learned a lot from her free content. She also has a paid course but provides a ton of information for free.

Beard Balm - I guess I want an uncommon consistency - Is it possible?

@AliOop yes, it is probably regular lanolin though the book called it lanolin wax, not sure why, but that was the closest thing I could buy. I actually found this email I sent to them about the recipe, because it was supposed to be a mustache wax and it was too soft for shaping a mustache...

Beard Balm - I guess I want an uncommon consistency - Is it possible?

I believe it comes from sheep if I remember correctly, not from Inside but from their wool, so they are not harmed during the process. It may be called butter. I will check, but I think I got it from either Wsp or Nature’s garden if I remember correctly. Supposed to be good for the skin.

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

@Ephemerella That made my day, thank you so much! @AliOop That's a great tip! Thank you. I have expanded to kneeling pillows, and those boxes also sound interesting. I will check them out. I created Thankyou codes so it is good to have additional items for repeat customers.

Beard Balm - I guess I want an uncommon consistency - Is it possible?

I bought the book from LovingSoap, Men's grooming book and tried a few of the recipes. One of them called for lanolin wax, which has a soft consistency and the balm made with it is spreadable, feels oily once you touch it, and looks a bit translucent.

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

@Vicki C I don't mind saying at all! I am decorating Bibles for special occasions, people buy them mostly for weddings and quinceaneras. A commemorative bible presentation is part of most Christian Latin wedding ceremonies, along with other items. I am thinking of renaming it, but if you want...

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

@paradisi Yes, it is a big chunk if the sale comes from the general web. About 40% of my sales come from offsite ads. Shipping cost is up to you. If you want to offer free shipping you can build it on your price or charge for it separately. They do suggest you offer free shipping as their...

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

@Carly B No, no there is no 10% fee per se. Here are the standard fees: -Listing fee: 20 cents per item, lasts 4 months or until item sold, whichever comes first - transaction fee 6.5% - processing fee 3.5% plus 0.25 cents per transaction (this is like the fee you would pay to square or PayPal...

Is selling on Etsy a good idea?

It wouldn’t hurt to try, but make sure you have great photos, good SEO and branding. I have done well in Etsy lately, not with soaps though; but another venture, without good branding initially. I have been learning a lot from Starla Moore in YT (she is an Etsy coach). There are more fees...

    Frosting amount

I recently made a soap, I didn’t frost it but wanted a frosted look, which I made with a scraper. I calculated the recipe for the “frosting” based on the height I wanted it to have, and what percentage of the bar it would be. (Half or one third, a quarter, etc) then I multiplied that by the...

SMF February 2023 Challenge - Soap Curls

Yes, you should totally go for it, I was copying Van Gogh! It did take some time, but a printed version of the scene under the mold helps when calculating the size and placement, assuming your mold is white and somewhat translucent.

SMF February 2023 Challenge - Soap Curls

@Catscankim if they area dark color and your main soap is a light color, you will see them. When I made a curls soap, the advice we got was to peel and curl it soon after unmolding the soap. With my recipe, that was the only way to make them without cracking. I also shaped them to the desired...

    Shoes and Plantar Fasciitis

my husband has dealt with that, the pain does not go away as soon as you switch shoes, or as soon as you start the stretch exercises, it takes time but it will heal. He did have to get inserts, custom made for his feet. He can use those inserts on any shoes, He does like Hoka shoes (with his...
