    soap planer

yes, that’s the one. Thanks for referencing it, I couldn’t remember their shop name. Too bad to hear about the illness, hope they are recovered now. Didn’t know they had moved!

That is the one I have too, I like it because it allows me to shave a very thin layer only!

Adding embellishments to soap bars after cut

I have added embellishments to soaps after cutting the bars. If the soap is a bit older, It helps if you carve out a small portion out of the soap and use really moist soap dough as glue for the embeds and some water. If not too old, a small dab of water will do. Like here. (Fast forward to...

Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

@AliOop That sounds like a fun activity to do with your grandson! I have experimented with micas as well instead of glitter (some boys do not like the idea of glitter on them, depends on the age), and mica has worked fairly well (not well enough for me to offer it at parties though) but have...

Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

Thank you! It was a pride and prejudice inspired soap. I cut the stencils for the glitter tattoos with vinyl. You put the stencil vinyl on the arm or leg, and apply the skin safe glue, then you sprinkle the cosmetic glitter and remove the stencil. I often remove the stencil before the glitter...

Everything CRICUT (Silhouette, Sizzix, Brother, etc.) thread!

I use my Silhouette a lot for the personalized bibles, but also to make stencils, stencils for glitter tattoos: also stencils for soaps: also make wall signs and custom t-shirts but I don’t have pictures of those, those are mostly for fun or for family.

    Let's Talk AI (Artificial Intelligence)

@basti Good point on the "ethical AI" term, I will keep it in mind. When my cousin did her professional style portrait with it I thought, hmmmm....I could have taken her headshot (as I did before), but it would not have been so effortless or the same. I think people who just want something...

    Let's Talk AI (Artificial Intelligence)

@Shirley-D from what I have heard, it does browse the internet for sources, which is why it is a big deal in the art community, to name one. The concern about it taking copyrighted material and all the legal issues involved with that. In Canva though, where the material belongs to them, it is...

    Let's Talk AI (Artificial Intelligence)

From what I have read and heard, it does "learn" from previous inputs and adapts future outputs based on that. Which is different from being self aware. I see it as a tool, not a human replacement though. I agree with you on that, and I do have a smart dog that is probably better at guessing...

    Let's Talk AI (Artificial Intelligence)

Starla Moore has been covering and doing demos of the chatGpt and the new Canva features lately, I have found it interesting. For product descriptions she says they are good for generating ideas when you feel out of them. It provides words you may not think of right away. Her husband said he...

    Turquoise Stone Design Method?

This is how I made some turquoise soap embeds before, I have thought of making a larger bar. However, the technique that comes to mind for that is the pencil lines and I am not a fan of it as the pieces have separated for me in the past (a sign I used too much mica). Although other attempts...

    Soap Art

Thank you @dibbles for tagging me. I agree with @KiwiMoose, it depends how it is kept and made. The Frida soap is still at display in a shadow box, going on two years now. I saw it the other day but didn’t stop to study it. Will do that next time. The box has a glass cover and it sits on a...

I feel really stupid right now

Oh wow, I am really sorry you went through that. To start off though, you don't need dozens of listings. Starla recommends at least one page worth of listings (like without scrolling), but I have heard of several people who only have six or 10. When I started I only had two listings. That...

March 2023 SMF Soap Challenge - Trip or Travel inspired

@dmcgee5034 I love your dog’s name, he looks so cute! And thank you so much, that made my day! @szaza thank you, I really hope so! @KDP Thank you! I appreciate that I forgot to add: The embeds are mostly erasers and plastic toys, I figured they won’t be using the soap anyway. I scented it with a...

March 2023 SMF Soap Challenge - Trip or Travel inspired

I made a soap last Sunday that I thought might qualify for the challenge if virtual travel was an option, it is a store front in Natchez, MS that someone asked me to do for an event. At first I thought it was an impossible request, but later decided I could do a caricature/vague resemblance...
