    Good Lavender FO?

@not_ally Thank you! I really appreciate that

    Good Lavender FO?

So their pina colada is no longer soap safe, but their pina colada paradise is. The other FO’s I mentioned still have the 49th amendment listed, not the 50th though.

    Good Lavender FO?

@not_ally Another one that I normally reorder from them is peppermint. I also really like their “peaches and cream” and “piña colada”. However; I have not checked the new IFRA % for those since the latest revision, so I do not know if they are still skin safe at 5%

    Good Lavender FO?

I have only used the one from Lone Star candle and that’s the one I have reordered time and again. I did try one from Wsp (a budget version they had) and did not like it, too generic, more floral than lavender.

    Resin mixer for soap making?

Thank you! that’s the same one I had in my cart. It seems in their website I need to buy a minimum of $30 for free shipping, whereas in your link the shipping is included (at least with prime it seems so)

Does anyone have a good source for Natrasorb?

Makeyourown has it at $36 a lb, which sounds pricey but I have never bought it so I don’t know how it compares. Their shipping is $19, yikes! however, if I add 5 lb to the cart the shipping becomes $25, so buying more (if you need it in bulk) might work best.

    Resin mixer for soap making?

@QuasiQuadrant agreed! An insert would be great. What I have to do if I forget to clean them right away (which has always been the case), it is to let them soak in water for several hours, then rinse and repeat. But I always need to go back with a bamboo skewer to remove what gets stuck in...

    Resin mixer for soap making?

@QuasiQuadrant I think I am buying the one I saw in that website. I have two that I 3D printed myself, but cleaning them is tricky. So I hope that it being made of silicone, helps make that easier.

    Resin mixer for soap making?

Reading the reviews, someone said it didn’t work well for thick resin, and the cleaning instructions stated to wash with mild soap. I am beginning to think it is not compatible.

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

These are the soaps I meant to enter in the challenge (well, the one on the right). There was not enough contrast for what was supposed to be the white mannequin I decided to add more soap dough for the jackets, like the one on the left, and for a lot of the soaps I had to, since they were a...

    Resin mixer for soap making?

Those are good questions, I will try to find out. I was thinking though, that it may not have enough torque or speed for emulsion. However, it might still be good to mix colors. If I decide to buy it I will let you know.

    Resin mixer for soap making?

I was looking for a silicone split cup, and run into this resin mixer. It is made to mix resin and avoid bubbles. I wonder if it could be used for soap making. Has anyone tried anything similar? It seems smaller, and perhaps has less power (since it can be charged). Thoughts?

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

I won't be able to post my entry after all, but maybe I will share it here when it is done. I look forward to seeing the entries though. I had a hard time accepting that the cost of having an over the range microwave installed, plus the cost of getting rid of the broken one, comes to be about...

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

our microwave just died, just when I see it is time to make the soap; and it takes a while to get a new one installed. But maybe our hot weather will actually be useful. It has been 103 or so lately, so I may just have to leave the oils outside.

    Still here...

Henry looks so sweet and cute! I am curious about those bananas, wish we could grow them here. With our heat waves even our grass is almost dead. I am also jealous about your carrots garden, you definitely have a green thumb! Glad to hear you are doing good and thanks for the update, sometimes...

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

@AliOop I admire your patience, what an ordeal! I concur with blaming the lard or any rancid oils. The one experimental batch I did with expired oils thickened faster than I had seen before, even without the fragrance , and later developed a lot of fat bloom. I am glad the last batch worked.

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

@Cindy D. Thank you for the tip, yes, it made sense. My first large extruder was a DIY one, adapted from a caulking gun and I made a solid round disc like the one you mentioned, for the same purpose. I choose to avoid aluminum because I have a theory (unproved and with not much data, just...

Thread titles and my very strange mind.

Looking for Oatmeal, Milk & Honey The oatmeal should be in cereal aisle, the milk in the dairy section, and the honey perhaps in the baking aisle, sounds like you are preparing a sweet breakfast!

    SMF August 2023 Challenge: SHAPES!

I finished 3D printing some extruder discs for the embeds. I recently bought a jerky extruder (bc it is stainless steel, I feel better about it than the aluminum barrels), so I am looking forward to testing it and the discs. I just hope I have enough soap dough to extrude the shapes and if...

Can I get opinions on new glasses please?

I like the second one. Initially I liked the first one but they seem a bit too large, unless that is just because they are at an angle. We have just been shopping for glasses for my husband, finally at the third store we found some he liked.
