    Eco enzyme soap

I once made a video for a lye calculator I use, you can watch it here. Normally citric acid (or lemon juice instead instead of water in the lye solution) does decrease the effectiveness of the lye, so more is needed. I would not know how much acidity the eco enzyme would have though. However...

    silicone cup for lye solution?

I am with @katili, I have knocked down a lye solution that was in a silicone container, it was a mess to clean up

    Eco enzyme soap

The best thing would be to run the recipe through a lye calculator, (like soapmakingfriend.com) to see if it is lye heavy, put the amount of coconut oil you used and see how much lye it calls for, Then compare it to the amount of lye you used.

Rosin and ROE, where to buy it

I got my ROE from New direction aromatics, Lotion crafter also carries it. In addition to the ones mentioned above.

    Masterbatching logistics and errors

If the lye water is heated, I would think that accelerates the process. When I masterbatch the lye water (smaller scale) I keep it at room temperature and shake the sealed container before pouring out any. Also, perhaps if you added the liquid oils to the tank as well, stirring would be easier...

Curious what the forum thinks of "Zote" Mexican soap (mainly for laundry)?

@VikingChick I wonder what brand of laundry soap she used for hand washing. I just remembered the one we used was “Rinso”

Curious what the forum thinks of "Zote" Mexican soap (mainly for laundry)?

@QuasiQuadrant Ditto on hanging clothes in a line! I remember we would leave them out hanging for days, and then, when it would suddenly start to rain, it was an all hands on deck frenzied operation to bring them inside all at once. It was very chaotic but fun.

Curious what the forum thinks of "Zote" Mexican soap (mainly for laundry)?

I have seen pictures of people who have used DIY laundry soap, and then ”wash” their clothes again in a bathtub with regular detergent, only to discover the bath water turns brown/very dirty because the diy laundry soap has created a barrier that trapped dirt underneath, or something along those...

Curious what the forum thinks of "Zote" Mexican soap (mainly for laundry)?

When I first started watching soap making videos, before even attempting it myself, I saw one from Becky’s homestead; where she made laundry soap with it (DIY laundry soap is itself a touchy subject; for which there are more cons than pros). What caught my attention is that she said she traded...

Did your soap go through gel phase?

What were you gifted or got for yourself over the holidays (for soaping or bath&body)?

I saw these molds at Joann and got them for embeds. The snowflakes are probably 1” tall and they were discounted well, even before Christmas

    Hydrosol as lye water?

I have not, too expensive for me to use them as that and I would think their properties would be lost that way. You could use it straight as a sprayer for refreshing bed linens, or even your skin during your skincare routine. Or you could resell it.

    Fragrance oils & discoloration

Did your soaps go through gel phase before? And are they going through gel phase now? Or do you know if the fragrances were reformulated recently in compliance to latest IFRA guidance?

What is the weirdest thing you've put in soap ?

Once I put grass (or boiled grass water I guess). It was for the garden inspired challenge hosted here I think. For another I added cilantro to see if made the soap green (it did but very little). If I remember correctly, Jen from Jen Spice in YT, added some of her rabbits fur (angora rabbits)...

Which font do you think would work best for my logo?

I like the first one better, perhaps because the second one makes me think of balloon animals. I do balloon figures for some parties so that is probably why, I am sure most people may not think that.

    Shampoo Bar questions

I have made them to be about 3 oz, depends on the mold I use. Usually I follow the recipes from Humblebee and me, and they have lasted a long time, except one of them, where I did a substitution for one of the butters (I think it was the mango mango recipe). I also have noticed that the...

    Aztec IFRA rates

update: I just looked up their IFRA page and most of the fragrances have old IFRA certificates, (2014, 2017, or 47th ammendment) I prefer to follow the 50th or 49th amendment)

How do you label your soaps?

After experimenting, I settled with one recipe and I masterbatch the oils for it, about 400 oz at a time. Anytime I make a soap I copy this recipe in the lye calculator (I use lyecalc), adjust the oils amount, and save it under a unique name (usually after the fragrance or main decoration). I...

Thread titles and my very strange mind.

Single-Use Soaps I agree, though married people would also greatly benefit from using soaps.
