    Lip balm advice.

The flavor oils that I bought and want to use do not have sweetener. I just want something easy that works. Great if I could get it on amazon so it comes quick! I almost bought that sorbitol I listed above, but I don't know if it mixes.

    Lib Balm Sweetener

I'm searching for an easy sweetener for lip balm that won't be gritty or separate. I was going to buy the MMS sugar baby flavor oil recommended here. But, the ingredients aren't listed and they say they can't say what they are. What do you put on your label?

    I'm not seeing Lorann sweetener.

May I ask what sweetener you use in your tried and true recipe?

Has anyone used liquid sorbitol in lip balms? Does it risk separation? https://a.co/d/agqXjP6

    Honey in Balms

Could you please say more about this? I'm trying to figure out what I did accidentally so that I can do it again. I make a lip balm that is 50% Tallow, %25 cocoa butter, and %25 beeswax. I used %5 honey and it worked great, lasted for years, and never separated. Listening to others experiences I...

    Lip balm advice.

thank you! I'll look at the thread you linked. I wonder if I had no separation due to the heat of my mix when poured, or because of the type of fats I used cocoa butter and tallow with just a smidge of jojoba. The last balm I had in my purse in Austin last weekend at 111F and it just barely slid...

I love the idea of stevia, but I do not want it grainy. Anyone have a stevia oil that’s available on Amazon?

    Lip balm advice.

Do you remember how much you used? I used 10 g honey in 200g fat and beeswax.

    Lip balm advice.

I just added it to the oils. I e found some flavorings from bulk apothecary that I want to try. But how can I sweeten them? I read that glycerine will emulsify into the oils if it’s a low percent. You e tried it and had separation? I do think some honey has less water in it than others, and...

    Lip balm advice.

So I made lip balm almost 4 years ago. I posted about it on here and was read the riot act because I’d used 10grams of honey to my 200g fats and butters. I’ve been waiting all these years for it to show any sign of spoilage or going bad. I’ve used it all day everyday, and I am at my last bit of...

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

Waaaa! All I wanted was to play with some soap dough!! 😫 It’s all trash. Zapped my tongue. Separated liquid oils and lye, hard chonky bits. AND my utility sink where I soap is currently broken. Waiting for a repair. So did my best to clean up using old rags and vinegar. Tried not to lye burn...

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

Wow! They've really made a lot of improvements to soapmaking friend calculator! What a great resource!! I couldn't make soap without it!! I'll wait until I have my fresh oils before I try to add the CA. When I do add the CA I need to also click the liquid discount button? Does that calculate the...

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

You're so awesome! Thank you so much! That's a bit much for my tired brain tonight, but I'll check it out tomorrow. I'll get it dialed in and then make it part of my regular recipe as I ramp back up. I'm so grateful for this forum, you, and all the other soapers here! I'm really happy to be back...

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

No. But I've been thinking about it because I use so much tallow. It would help cut down on soap scum also, correct? I have citric acid. Does that work? How much and at what phase is it added?

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

All so very helpful! Thank you! I've got a bit of the RBO and tallow left and they don't smell bad, and I'd love not to waste them! If I formulated a soap to use them up, knowing how it behaves, and preparing for that, would it be ok to use it up?

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

Thanks guys! I've missed soaping! Your warm welcome is very much appreciated! I wish I could understand the chemistry more about these sorts of things. It's probably the tallow or rice bran oil. They're the oldest. The other two were just bought at Costco, so probably ok. I don't think oils sit...

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

Well the temps were def too high!! It was still a race at 85-90, but at least it worked! The first batch is separating and a total fail. Not sure if I want to try and save it or just trash it.

Ah! I would’ve never thought of that. The tallow was oldish, but was kept airtight and cool. It smelled ok… for tallow. How does that work to speed saponification, do you know?

Long time no soap. Help w dough please!

Hey guys! It's been a long time since I made soap. I thought making soap dough would be a good reentry. I'm using a recipe I used successfully before. I'll attach a screen shot. My lye water was at about 95-100, my oils were at about 110. No fragrance to act bad. The batch seized up very...
