How much ground oatmeal, how much colloidal oats, what lye concentration?

Absolutely!! You never want to mislead. What I was trying to say was that for some, the benefits of oatmeal regardless of the type will always be in their product. I guess aome people are not that discerning @AliOop. And good tip about the absorption issues with ground oats vs colloidal oats...

What soapy thing have you done today?

The recipe called for 49.94g lye and 101g water. I used my master batch and added the water. When I realized my mistake and threw out the batch, I recalculated on soapcalc to see what my lye should’ve been. It should’ve been twice as much and way less water. Whatever I did you could see by...

How much ground oatmeal, how much colloidal oats, what lye concentration?

Thanks for this. As soon as I posed the question I found the post below. The discussion got quite heated but in the end I think it doesn’t matter whether you use colloidal, wheat flower or coffee ground oatmeal as long as your label isn’t misleading you’re probably getting the same benefits...

How much ground oatmeal, how much colloidal oats, what lye concentration?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t colloidal oats just finely ground non quick cooking oatmeal?

What soapy thing have you done today?

I tried to make a face soap today and made a mistake 😭 the recipe wasn’t written for a master batch but I read it that way. Wasn’t until batter wouldn’t go to full trace that I realized the mistake 🤦🏽‍♀️

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

It’s also used in lippy products. Funny how some of the same ingredients used on cars are also in preparations for products used on nails and lips 😏

Check out this link to Lotioncrafters. This wax is used in combination to add body. I’ve never used it in lotions just lip things. Usage rate is 1-3% https://lotioncrafter.com/products/carnauba-wax

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I started expensive and kind of stayed that way. My lotions have Kokum or illipe butters. The good thing is my recipes take less of these than cocoa butter. I don’t sell. Just make for myself and family so maybe coming from a different direction 🤔

    Candle wick help

I’m in no way an expert but I’ve been making candles for a minute. Choosing a wick depend on the type of wax AND the size of the container. I’d say your containers are too small for the number of wicks. And you might be using the wrong wick for the type of wax you have. Check out this link to...

How are you offsetting the cost of Olive Oil?

I e been experimenting with high oleic sunflower oil and/or lard and tallow. I’ve been getting some really good bars!! I actually like them better than the ones I’ve made with OO. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Facial Cleanser for mature sensitive skin?

I found her post. And she hasn’t tried donkeys milk but thought camel did add some creaminess. Basically she’s not sold on adding milks to soap. If I read her post correctly, it’s the acid profile which was more important than milk. She thinks milks decrease lather 😕

What soapy thing have you done today?

Hope so!! I wonder how Holly oven processed hers? Wonder if the manufacturer is the culprit 🤔

Yeah- I put them in the oven just like Holly did. I’ll run them through the dishwasher and rub down with alcohol. Hopefully this will help. Thanks!!!

What soapy thing have you done today?

Thank you!! I do think they came out rather well if I do say so myself! Silicon rash? Is this something that is permanent to this mold? Or would a good wash solve it?

    Recipe dupe

This is what I get for looking at the picture. 🤦🏽‍♀️ The description says bar but when I saw the picture, I thought it had to be a cream. This is a bar in a jar. But what I’m confused about is all those extra ingredients. Wouldn’t saponification negate them? And if the soap is made for troubled...

    Recipe dupe

It is so much fun to suss these things out. I love trying to figure out how products are made. Especially when they cost way too much!! You could be right, but the preparation comes in a jar rather than a hard bar so I’m more inclined to think that your second possibility is more applicable.
