    Soap too soft

100% CO would be so harsh on my skin!!! These would probably feel wonderful to me. I'll just leave them in the rack and see if they ever firm up.

    Soap too soft

It was made on 6/30 and cut 48 hours later Yes- was trying for a ghost swirl. Makes sense. I was coping another’s ghost swirl recipe and I must have missed a step. Should I scrap the soap?

Wondering why this soap is so soft. I can still insert my fingernail 😢

What soapy thing have you done today?

I’m now asking for molds. I’m really afraid 😱 😹 That’s such a lovely thought!! How do you sanitize the water? Or is that necessary?

What soapy thing have you done today?

I didn’t do anything but my husband did! He finished my drying rack. I ask for something simple and get a piece of furniture 😹

What soapy thing have you done today?

I use grams instead of oz. Doing some back of the envelope math, I figured my oil probably has 2.5 times the concentration but using a fifth resulted in a softer pink than you got. I’m going to see what happens when I use at full strength 😎

What soapy thing have you done today?

Nice!!! I was just going to post something about whether to infuse tomato powder in oil or add it like mica into my soaps. 🤗 Do you mean the tomato powered didn’t change the oil at all? What was the ratio of powder to oil? I tried to infuse some Himalayan rhubarb the other day and infused it at...

He may have meant donkey milk. It’s really good for the skin and sold in powder form. I’ve used it and really like the results.

Soap Scientists - why did this happen!

Thanks for the reply. I was confused because I’ve used goat milk in my recipes before but never got these results. Admittedly the lard was higher than I usually use. Soap! It’s a mystery (or science, which is a mystery 😻)

Soap Scientists - why did this happen!

So I made this soap in June. It’s reconstituted powdered donkey’s milk, and rose clay. I was playing around trying to make a face soap that was gentle and used rice bran and jojoba oil’s. Today I finally used a bit of a bar and the sudsyness and the creaminess is off the chart! I think I need to...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Ohhh!!! I’ve been looking for something to make red. I’ve infused oils with paprika and ordered Himalayan rhubarb. I’ve found tomato leave scent but this one may be better. 🤔

Oh- well then it’s just the soap then. 😕 It passed the zap test. Guess I’m ok?

What soapy thing have you done today?

Made a Solvo type soap based on Elly's Everyday recipe. But I think I got DOS. It's small and I'm just going to have it be a feature of the soap (can I do that?) but it's irritating. I've never had DOS before. I'm wondering if I got it because I soaped cooler then 122F? The tallow wasn't...

Ethical Considerations (for me) for soapmaking

Semantics, budgets and what works for you and your customers I guess. 🥰

Ethical Considerations (for me) for soapmaking

I don't sell, just make soap cuz it's fun. But I have a question. I understand when you sell, you're trying to make a profit. The cost of ingredients, your profit and what the customer is willing to pay are all legitimate worries. But people buy handcrafted soap because it is handcrafted. If...

Spiky growth on soap. What is it?

After steaming and before with “what ever” photos. Seems it was just real aggressive soda ash 🤨
