How do you store your CP during the curing process

I don't think airflow has much to do with DOS. Airflow helps them to cure by allowing the water to evaporate from the bars. Storing them directly on metal can cause DOS, as can some oils, some EOs, some ingredients. Once your soap is fully cured ( about 8 weeks - 3 months) you don't need...

How do you store your CP during the curing process

My curing soaps and cured soaps are all kept in the same place. I have umpteen box lids from photocopy-paper reams that I line with a sheet of baking paper. Each batch yields about 22 bars and they fit into one box lid with enough space in between to cure. Once cured, I condense them down...

What Bath & Body Thing Have You Done Today?

I melt all the alcohols/butters, etc in the microwave, then use the same (pyrex-type glass) jug as a 'double boiler' by placing in a pot on the stove top with boiling water already in it. Then I add about a third of the SCI/other powdered surfactants with about half of the liquid surfactants...

Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

DeeAnna - this has not been my experience with ZNSC - although i do make the version with 10% CO and 5% castor. Once well cured (over a year) it has no sign of oleic gel at all. I'm also using a bar presently in the hand basin that was made in July 2023 and that's pretty rock-solid too - I'm...

Advice needed: CP soap turning soft when used as hand soap.

It depends what's available in your country Saffron. I use Golden Wax 415 as a rule, but recently have switched to All Seasons S100 due to pricing. I've also used other ones. Just make sure it is ONLY soy and nothing else in the wax.

Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

I had some very well cured ZNSC (over a year) and that stuff was hard as nails! No squishy outer layer, no soggy bottom.

Where do I find these ingredients

"CSC Compound: Collagen, Sericin, and Chitosan comprise the uber-compound unique to Cor" I found it on their website: https://corsilver.co.uk/product/cor-silver-soap-trial-size/ @martin van rossum I really think they've done a good marketing job on you. Have you tried just making a simple cold...

Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

@akseattle yes it's 0% superfat. That's what helps with the no-slime effect, as does the seawater. For the seawater - I boil it and filter it through a coffee filter, then freeze it in suitable sized bags in the freezer. I use the full amount of fragrance in my recipe (3 or 4 percent) but i...

Questions re Zany's No Slime Castille soap

I make this exact recipe ( with the 10% CO and 5% castor) and it's a lovely creamy soap. Yes, the lye solution goes cloudy, that's because of the additives that make the faux seawater. I make mine now with real seawater and it still goes cloudy, and gets a bit of 'soda ash' or 'lye lint' on...

    Cracking tops....same recipe...new problem...

Gosh @McKherring Farm - I'm not sure how we all missed this last year, but is this the recipe you use? You should ideally change the 'water as a percentage of oils' setting to 'lye concentration' setting and make it 33%. Having so much water can cause overheating. In addition - you have more...
