Poodle Soap Bar - Does this sound OK?

A lot of people will warn against using lye soap on dogs but I've found it to be superior to commercial shampoo. It really removes doggy odors, no more wet dog smell after bathing and soap rinses so much easier. I make mine with 10% neem, not sure it does anything but I'm not going to use the...

    More Bubbles Please

Reduce olive oil to 20%, when discussing oil amounts, its always a reduction or increase of that oil by percentage.

How do you make a perfectly white soap? I've been challenged..

Lard will make a really white bar, I use 50% in my base recipe. White clay doesn't do much for color, titanium dioxide is better

    Snakes

A ball python would be my suggestion, they are slower moving and generally easier for kids to handle If I had room, I'd have a bunch of snakes. I almost bought 2 more corns but came to my senses, I need to find room for a hatchling rack and incubator before I do anything else.

Lye Beads Floating in "finished" soap

In the future, when you get zappy beads like that, give it time to reabsorb and zap test in a week or so. Your soap likey got a little too warm, causing it to weep. It should be fine if you leave it be. As far as the batter thickening fast, did you use a new FO or oils?

kindly comment on my soap recipe

I agree with this, higher in palm will give you a harder longer lasting bar with more lather and it will cure quicker. A bar with 65% olive will need at least 6 months to cure and will have stringy, low lather. If you still want to try it, you could soap just warm enough to melt the solid oils.

    Searching for International Dessert Recipes

I've always wanted to try one of those cheese cakes, they look really good. My favorite regional dessert is black forest cake. I use imported cherries from the black forest(bought at trader joes) and imported kirsch to make it authentic as possible. Its not a overly sweet dessert, the booze...

Salt Bar Recipe - pulse check

I've tried various amounts of salt and 35% is the sweet spot for my water, which is moderately hard. Try different amounts, see which you prefer. More salt gets you a harder bar, faster trace and faster set up time. I really recommend individual molds if you are new to salt bars, cutting can be...

    Ciaglia salt bars?

I never even considered using non salt shreds but it should work fine. I'd blend the shreds in well before adding the salt

    Ciaglia salt bars?

Kind of. I had wanted to use salt shreds in a confetti soap but when I shredded it, it crumbled. I ended up powdering it by hand and adding it into a new batch of soap. Ended up with a soap similar to ciaglia, just took a different route to get there. Since salt bars crumble so much when...

    What in the world?

I don't use clay, it dries my skin terribly. My recipe is quite long lasting so I don't have to add stuff to it but I used to use salt to harden

    What in the world?

If it doesn't seem to accelerate trace, try mixing it with the oils first and maybe skip the clay

Looks like the scent wasn't mixed in all the way. When are you adding it and how are you mixing it?
