    Fall soap

Incredible work there, congrats! I wanna eat the one in the bottom right, it looks good too. I did a double-take on your hot chocolate -- looks similar to one I do. What did you use for the sticks?

My Experimental Honey & Beeswax Soap

Thanks for the update! Personally, I find that sugar and honey increase the all important bubbles factor. [:secret:Hint. if you type the at sign (@) and start typing a member's name, you'll see their avatar/name pop up for you to click. That way, the member gets a notification that you...

    Soap, the Final Frontier!

Un. Be. Liev. A. Ble! I have no words. Insanely complicated and awesome results! I hate it when my gift recipients display my soap. But, NGL, if you gave those to me, I'd frame them forever!

New to coloring bar soap, looking for help

I get my rosehip powder from Bramble Berry. It's definitely not red like those incredible photos above of rhubarb whatchamacallits.

New to coloring bar soap, looking for help

I use rosehip powder to get a brick red. It's kinda trippy. When you first unmold and cut, only the edges are colored and then it travels inward until the whole thing is colored.

What soapy thing have you done today?

So anyhoo, it's been a minute. I'm only like 20 pages behind on this thread, yikes-kers! I just took advantage of Bramble Berry's 20% off essential oils sale. Ends today, people. Also, a friend came to visit. She and her business partner host yoga retreats at a woodland resort. Instead of...

    Lotion bar evangelism

I melt beeswax and soft oil first and get my double-boiler boiling. I read somewhere that you should melt butters slowly so I turn the double-boiler down. When the butter is melted, I remove from heat, add essential oil and vitamin E. Then I pour into molds. Sorry to be late in responding...

Why do you like making soap?

Keep us posted on the lotion bars. For soap, I use shea butter, palm oil, coconut oil, rice bran oil, avocado oil, and castor oil. Wanted to get it under 6 ingredients but no dice. My superfat is 3%.

    Covid

Sorry to hear this and hope you're on the mend. You are isolating your crabbiness from hubs, right? I had good experience with paxlivid. I thought I was the last person to be infected last December and I was an essential worker since day 1. I'm super careful. Here's the thing. That little...

What soapy thing have you done today?

Help me Lord, I am 30 pages behind on this thread and don't know how to keep up. It's been a summer. I'll just say stone the flaming crows. :) Mrs. Zing works for a certain scouting organization. This week, they have been organizing and clearing out old inventory and she brought home dozens...

Why do you like making soap?

This has been quite entertaining and educational. I did melt and pour soap for years and got into cold process for a creative outlet, you know, colors and swirls and all that jazz. My family and I were completely unprepared that our skin health noticeably improved by a great degree. Also, my...

    Curiosity about lotion bars

Weight, weight, weight, always weight! Thanks for asking this. I'll try to be more clear in the future.

Soaps causing skin problem on hands

Yes, especially on my hands. I live through cold, dry, Midwest winters and resigned myself to the fact that my fingertips will bleed every winter. I would apply SuperGlu proactively and reactively. My fingers no longer bleed. Sorry to be graphic. I don't know what to credit my soap and...

Soaps causing skin problem on hands

I usually tell people that lotion bars are like chapstick, except for your skin. I use lotion bars everywhere but especially on my hands. They are simple, quick, and inexpensive to make. 1/3 each of beeswax, hard butter, liquid oil. Easy peasy.
