    Castile: Gel or No?

I think I am going to get brave and try it once we get my new oils here. We have decided to start buying in bulk, so I am not running to the grocery store every five minutes and paying so much more. Once I do that I will see what happens. :shifty:

    Castile: Gel or No?

Ungelled, but only because my very first batch was a partial gel and I am a big pansy. I am afraid that if I try to get something to gel I will either get partial or a volcano.

    Monday 1-27-14 FO SALE!!!!!!!!

I am going to have to agree. For the "big sale" at the end of 2013, I bought just at $200 worth of stuff and it was my first order. According to the little listing at the top: "DOLLARS SAVED: $6.11"

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

Me too!! I just love looking at everyone's soaps. I could spend days in the photo gallery. Hopefully someday I will be able to make something as impressive as what I see here. Right now I am just happy when my soap firms up and makes bubbles, lol.

Castile for the New Year anyone?

I have been SO good. I haven't tried mine at all. But I did make a bunch of it and when it hits the six month mark I plan on using it then and continuing to make a small batch every month so that once it is a year old, I will never be without it again.

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

I honestly don't think it would make a difference. It would be one thing if I left the stuff in the sink after washing, but I don't. I let things dry in the patio and that is where I keep it when it is waiting to be washed. All of my soap supplies are somewhere other than the kitchen and he...

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

Great ideas, everyone. There may be something in the works that will be good for him. Also, all of the soaps that were posted are beautiful! I love looking at all of the things that all of you make! Before starting this, I never would have imagined that there could be so much creativity and...

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

Those are lovely coffeetime! I really want to try some salt bars and it would be really nice if he liked them.

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

If your family is able to be trusted, you should really look into the measuring cups too. Especially if you need to pour into squirt bottles or something small. The ones I posted can be pinched and it makes it easier to pour, and I haven't had any issues with them, and LOVE the fact that they...

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

Oh, and for like 50 cents each, you can also buy the lids for them. Sometimes I use them for my lye mixture when I am soaping at RT. Then I can mix the lye and water and put the lid on them and set them outside in the patio and nothing falls in the lye water and no liquid evaporates out.

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

Absolutely. I don't know that I would try to mix a quart of soap in them, but they are actually about 1/2 - 3/4 inch taller than the measuring cups mentioned above.

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

Thank you for the insight on salt bars. I REALLY want to try to make some. I am going to have to go get some individual molds. I would love to see what they feel like. As far as the baby oil goes, that is just about the only thing that he won't use. And smells he doesn't like. He...

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

I bought some of those, but then my husband went into my soaping supplies and pulled one out to use in the kitchen. Luckily I hadn't used it yet, but I figured if he would invade my soaping space for the kitchen, I better use as much as possible that is not for the kitchen, or nothing he would...

What kind of containers do you use for smaller amounts of soap?

I got some smaller cups from Lowe's. I assume they are paint cups. It is called a "Measure Right Mixing Container" and they had lots of different sizes. The size I bought was 1 quart. They have marks on the sides that are for measurements (but it says that the measurements are approximate...

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

I have read about people doing 100% coconut in salt bars. I have really wanted to do a salt bar, but we have 5 kids, 4 at home and one is a baby, so things are very unpredictable. I was thinking that a salt bar might help him because I figure it would be somewhat scratchy (I have never tried...

Soaping for my husband - Tree Sap???

I am sick and tired of dishes piled to the ceiling because I ran out of dish soap. My husband will be very easy to soap for. He is not really concerned with the way the soap makes him feel, provided that he feels clean. He runs a tree company and comes home every day covered in bar oil, gas...

New Here - New to Soap - Got a Cow

As someone with little patience, you should fit in well here. Despite the fact that few of us have any (patience) it is one of the main things you will need to learn. Soaps take a while to cure before they are ready to use (4 - 8 weeks for some kinds and up to a year for Castile) You have been...
