    Problems with FO

You may want to wait a couple days and revisit the scent. Occasionally some fragrances smell off for a while before they cure.

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

Unmolded soap today. I didn't need to freeze the molds. Soaps slid right out-- almost came out like torpedos so I had to be careful I didn't launch one! LOL The salt trick seems to have worked out very good. But I have yet to try it out using no salt, SL, etc. I confess I am a bit chicken as I...

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

Since I make only beer soap in the PVC molds my pusher is the beer can! Update: Got the first set of soaps made today. Have the rest of the soap order to finish up tomorrow. I ended up adding a little salt to the lye solution and stirred til it disolved. Will see if that helps out tomorrow...

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

I really should get some more mineral oil and keep it around the house. I use it for all kinds of things. I used to have a can that lasted me for a long time and just keep forgetting to replace it!

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

    Thanks JC! Got it!

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

Yeah-- It's me! What exactly do you mean by 60% water solution? I am planning to put the salt in my lye solution. Is that what you mean? If I use 10oz of lye solution, do I use 6oz of salt? That seems excessive..

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

Unfortunately I can't change the recipe-- these are beer soaps and are for a wholesale account. I have been using the PVC molds for a while so hopefully they are well seasoned. I've used liners before but it always makes a line or indentation on the soap rounds so I won't be using any liners...

    Sub for Sodium Lactate

I need to make some soap today and am running out of SL. I was hoping I could sub some salt instead. I do have beeswax and stearic but would rather not use those. I am using my PVC molds and just want to make sure the soap slides out of the mold. I've been using SL in my batter to help with...

    Liquid on top of paste

Awwww.... it's been raining all day today so the humidity is high. Even in my house I can see the humidity gauge is running at almost 70%. :)

    Liquid on top of paste

Thank you. When I first saw it my gut was saying oh no! it's lye on top! So glad to know its just condensation. After I tested that was the only thing that made sense to me. Just never seen it puddle like that before.

    Liquid on top of paste

I just made a batch of LS about a couple of hours ago. It had already turned to paste and tested clear with the phenalthalein (sp?). I noticed a tiny bit of liquid, maybe 1/2oz in a tiny 1" puddle on top of the soap. The soap is not seperated. It went through all the stages beautifully and...

when to pour EO into LS?

I also add mine at the end of dilution when the soap is still warm.

    Juniper Aloe

Me too. I actually made 2 batches and just did a simple layer on the second. But the swirl came out much nicer than I had hoped for because I had to bang it down into the mold. Maybe I can figure out a way to work faster cause I love the swirlies.:)

    Rainbow Taiwan Swirl

    Wowzer! That's beautiful!

    Juniper Aloe

These are some facial bars I make with fresh pureed avocado, avocado & grapeseed oils. I use EBB's Juniper Aloe. It stays fluid for a while then suddenly accelerates so I have to work fast. But they are worth it because the fragrance is beautiful! In the mold and fresh cut pics.

Bubbly lather in non palm oil soap?

Have you tried mango butter? I love a mango and cocoa butter blend soap when I am not using palm or animal fats. Or even mango and shea together.

Aloe Vera juice percentage in soap?

The reason why I know is because I use the same recipe for some other soaps I make. One of them is the one with the aloe as the full liquid. The others I use distilled water.
