A purist at heart. Potentially practical if needed. That's a rock-solid answer. (pun intended)

I really love the color scheme too. Question: Do you mark out anything on the stone first or do you just envision your design and do it all freehand?

Naturally colored soap - The journey

Confession: I tried a quasi-swirly thingy ma jigger experiment last week. I just couldn't resist. PS. I found a perfectly smooth rock shaped like a heart today at the river. Now I will be dreaming of dots all night. Late here, glad you waded thru my sob story and Amen to your signature.

    Painted stone for daughter's birthday

Thanks for all the kind comments. @KiwiMoose, you're so right! @MGM, not painted for the pride theme, but rather the promise associated with God's rainbow:)

    Painted stone for daughter's birthday

Hello talented people. I was really inspired and encouraged by KiwiMoose's beautifully painted Mandala stones: see here if you haven't already: https://www.soapmakingforum.com/threads/been-a-bit-distracted-lately.75322/ To make a short story long, my daughter is turning 8 tomorrow so I wanted...

    Been a bit distracted lately...

Funny you mention that because she loved your accent and actually tried to do an impression. She's quite the comedian. Every new dot you did she was like, "whoa, ooo, ahhh". I checked out the Canadian website that sells the dotting tools and ended up ordering a full set of 14 from Amazon. $35...

Thank you so much for sharing. My daughter's eyes were lighting up as we watched the video. There's a Benjamin Moore store that's only 2 miles from our house! Cheers

Hi KiwiMoose, your rock paintings are gorgeous!! My 7 year old loves to paint stuff with her acrylics. May I ask what type of paint you use? I think this would be such a great hobby for her (and me too). Thank you in advance.:)

    Plastic shrink wraps

NationalShrinkWrap offers biodegradable breathable shrinkwrap called Biolefin. Still some debate on this but worth a look. Pricey, but something I would use should I ever go from addicted soap hobbyist to mega business soap making mogul:cool...

    I have a confession .....

Well, it usually involves me throwing my already ruined back out, then landing on the floor with my 7 year old asking if she needs to call 911.

    Bettering the curing process

If you could train your husband in 37 days instead of 37 years, I bet you'd want to try that:beatinghead:

Where to buy soapmaking supplies in USA?

I should have clarified, I only buy organic and couldn't find anyone else that could even come close to Jedwards prices for EOs. So even high shipping still makes them a better option for me, even being on the west coast. I do buy my organic PO, PKO, EVVO, and HOSF from Soapers Choice...

Where to buy soapmaking supplies in USA?

If I was in Boston I'd be going to Jedwards. Literally less than 15 miles south of Boston in Braintree. Pick up in person to save on shipping and I've yet to find organic prices that are better. Strange no one ever mentions them. https://bulknaturaloils.com/

How to naturally colour goats milk soap purple

Hi Lucy. I don't know anything about using goat's milk in soap but here is the soap I made with Alkanet root. I used "wildharvested" (Alkanna tinctoria) from Mountain Rose Herbs. Process: 1)Ground up root super fine 2) Infused with high oleic organic sunflower oil for a few hours. Put...

Naturally colored soap - The journey

Hi MB. The first time I tried the madder root it didn't pick up much color either because I didn't grind it up enough. Also, for me, the lighter color sun flower oil seems to work best for the infusions.

Naturally colored soap - The journey

Thank you Jono. Ironically (or sadly) the accident she witnessed validated everything I have taught her about the dangers of the road. Even at her young age, I have tried to instill in here the concept of defensive driving. When we witness someone doing something foolish on the road (which is...

Naturally colored soap - The journey

Thank you. We love watching the alkanet infused soap go through so many changes once it's cut and exposed to air. It's really quite fascinating!
