:) I just bought honey powder from PV Soap and it says it real honey blown??? into a powder. Has anyone used it? I want to put it in goat milk soap with oatmeal honey fragrence. Site says you can use it soap.

:?: Can you replace shea for coconut? I find I itch with any of my bars that have coconut. I superfat but still no good. My recipes vary and call for variety of oils including shea.

Very Pretty. I never really worry about fast acc unless I'm trying to swirl color. I get it in a mold and make curly cuts to make it pretty. If its a scent I want, I soap warmer and stick it smoothe with one color.

:D You need to buy some books or look online. Without specific amounts, it would be hard to give a recipe. For instance, I did a goat milk recipe that called for 24 oz olive oil, 8 oz palm kernal oil, 8.8 oz of goat milk and 4.38 oz of lye. Beautiful soap, easy to blend and time to get to...

orris root??? :) I just read that if you add orris root to the soap, it will help to hold scent. Has anyone heard/tried this? I put it in a soap that was mostly essential oils that I heard will fade. Time will tell, I guess.

:?: If thats true, how are you to measure ph? I use a pool testing kit with a color range and my soap after a week measures 7.5-8.5. I zap test before measuring and all I taste is faint salt.

when to cut :) I would also take into account how big your batch is. I did a 5 lb batch yesterday and poured at 2pm and I felt it when I got home and it still felt warmish at 6pm when I got home. Did another 5 lb batch on saturday and cut it this morning and it was still bruisable (word?)...

:) I've read in a "Idiots" guide to soap making that the author saw a soap that used all three--hot, cold and melt and pour to make some amazing looking soap. It's your dad/husband, he wont be disappointed because you made it!

:?: Are you supposed to leave some of the oil out of a recipe and add at trace or does the recipe discount the lye to achieve the same result? Some recipes say they're super-fatted and I just do what the recipe says, but they don't indicate where the super-fatting takes place.

:) The recipe called for 12 oz each of shea and mango. The rest was 24 oz olive, 24 oz palm kernal, 25.5 oz water and 10.2 oz lye. The soap feels leathery after only 36 hours. Are you saying that you need to soap above 100 deg when you use mango butter?
