    Is this paste

Thanks for all suggestions! I double checked my scales etc as the other times I’ve made this I got a lovely amber taffy paste. after a major lye volcano (used aluminum pitcher not stainless) and the heat of my soap room I likely just didn’t stir enough the first time. susan

    Is this paste

Hi to all and thank you for your help. I made a few small batches successfully and then decided to go big. Um. Not sure it worked. There is no zap. I had a large amount of excessive oil after 24 hours of ignoring. I reheated and blended etc. Should I simply dilute a small amount and see what...

Thanks! I guess I’m being impatient. Sorry. I did make an HP batch. Turned out perfectly in crockpot. Batch #2 IL CP is weepy. Made Batch #3 IL CP yesterday and turned out very nicely. wondering if I should heat the CP paste to reincorporate the oils. It’s pretty thick to blend. thanks...

    GLS paste repair possible?

Hi. I'm so appreciative for all the fine helpful folks here. I have a question. Y esterday I made IL's GLS paste and I think I may have over blended it? Or maybe it was separated when I put the lid on and left it? Anyway, when I checked this morning it was paste with oozy goo (oil or glycerin)...

Yes, thanks. I understand that. I ran it through soap calc with 81 oz of oil to determine proper amount of lye/water. You all are wonderful.

Thanks Gecko and thanks everyone for the welcome. I may just chalk this one up to lesson learned. The idea of lye water over a burner kinda freaks me out....... Susan

Need help sorting out lye miscalculation

Thanks you all for all the suggestions and questions. I do enough oils for 6 loaves in a stainless steel canner. Never been a problem when I was cutting loaves one bar at a time. Now I am cutting an entire loaf of 14 bars @ 5.6 oz each. So, as I was trying to determine the lye for each batch...

Need help sorting out lye miscalculation

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. This is soap with 6 oz of EO in it so I'd like to try to salvage it, even if to just cut for samples. I follow soapcalc always. So: Per loaf: The proper recipe was 55 oz oil to 16 oz water to 8 oz lye. What I poured was 81 oz oil to 16 oz water to 8 oz lye...

Hi. I'm Susan. I'm in Tennessee. I've been making cold process soap for several years now and recently scaled up to a one loaf cutter. (YAY me!). I've been having trouble resizing my recipes and yesterday I really messed up. Also, my brain has been in a quarantine fog and simple math...
