    French Green Clay isn't green..?

Ahhh.. 2 teaspoons per pound. That's double what I used. Maybe that is why mine looks almost tan in color. I'll go a bit heavier next time.

    French Green Clay isn't green..?

Thanks. I got it mixed well enough that I didn't have any speckles, but I have seen some green clay soaps that were a bit darker with just the clay. Maybe I'll try to add a bit more next time to see what happens. It does have a slightly green hue this morning. I do like the fact that it has a...

    French Green Clay isn't green..?

I made a batch of shaving soap tonight with french green clay. It seemed to be a relatively muted green color. As the soap sat in the mold, it seems to be getting lighter in color. Any ideas? I did read somewhere that clay color intensity depends on he region it's mined from, climate, etc.. I...

Coal Soap! ( Pics Added )

Activated charcoal is regular crushed charcoal that has been treated with oxygen to open up tiny pores that are said to help cleanse the body of toxins. Not sure how well it works on the skin. I do know it works wonders for certain types of poisoning internally though. Activated charcoal has...

    Clay soap is awsome!

This is all good to know! I just got some clays and charcoal in the mail yesterday. I made a batch with the charcoal last night. I hope to use the green clay tonight. I love using natural scents, but I do find they tend to fade away faster than FO. So, hopefully, the clays will anchor the scent...

 Good one! I can't wait to get home and get it out of the mold today. Well... I got the coal soap unmolded this afternoon and just got done cutting it. I am so jazzed with the results! I hope my customers like it too. Can anyone tell me how to upload a pic here? Got it figured out this...

Coal Soap! ( Pics Added )

Hi all. I just finished making a batch of coal soap for christmas. I used activated charcoal in my normal recipe to get an all black soap. Once it comes out of the mold, I will cut it into irregular pieces and place the chunks into small bags as stocking stuffers. This is going to be fun :D...

    Aged soap?

I too find that my soap with the more simple recipe is actually a better soap. I now keep the same old recipe going only to change certain EO's, clay, etc... Sometimes, we make things so complicated that quality (at least longevity) tends to suffer. I like simple :D

    Ex-lurker as of today!

Thanks guys! I'm so tickled with myself because I've (for the most part) switched over to CP for my business. I just finished getting 2 batches done and in the molds like it was nothing! As we get busier, I keep trying to find a way to be more efficient without sacrificing quality. And, I love...

    Ex-lurker as of today!

Hello all. I have been lurking for quite some time, but today I decided to join. I really like this "family". I have read many good posts here in the last year. I am a soap maker from Salisbury, MD. We make soap for our own household and as a business. We make both CP and HP soap depending on...
