    Almond oil and Walnut oil

My grocery store had some bottles of these on clearance so I snatched some up. I got 35 oz of Almond oil for $14 and 17.5 oz of Walnut oil for $7. Now I'm not completely sure what to do with it. Do these ad a scent? If so what other scents should I ad? Maybe vanilla and call the walnut one...

    Liquid soaps??

OK, so if I can make laundry detergent by melting 10 oz of my tallow soap into 40 oz. of water, then can I make hand soaps or other liquid soaps the same way? I just really am intimidated by the liquid soap making process in the book that I bought and there seems to be a lot more chemistry...

    Pet Shampoo

I have heard that lavender EO on cats is a no-no, but lavender buds are OK. Don't know why.

    Wanted, molds

I know this may not be a great place to ask this since you are all using your molds. But I also know that some of you have been buying new molds, so if you have some old molds that would be good for a beginner CPer who doesn't want to spend a lot of money then I'd be happy to take it off your...

    Paris Hilton for President

Still, at least her shoes don't make a commercial using her image to smear their opponent.

    Waxes?

OHHH, so it's probably useless for me to buy then. I was wondering if there was something I was missing.

    Waxes?

So I'm looking on eBay for some supplies and I keep seeing large lots of stuff with lots of waxes. What are these used for? Is that for M&P, because I am doing CP.

Fresh Eggplant? What to do w/ it?

My FAVE thing to do it to cut them across (so they are circles) and add a slice of mozzarella, a couple of basil leaves and a slice of tomato. Put into the oven for about 20-30 min at ~350 degrees. YUM!!

    Will this work?

I made a batch of Tallow soap last night and I was thinking of taking part of it and handmilling it to add cedar oil (that I use in my yard to control biting insects) for a pet shampoo. The dogs already get the oil dosed on them so I know it's safe, but I'm more curious as to whether or not the...

    Curing

So I tried one of the bars last night and LOVE it. Of course dumb me picked out a castille soap so I had to take it out of the shower and put it on a towel to dry back out. Hopefully I won't need to pull any more bars that early to test since I have a TON of soap for now and plan to keep...

    Beef Tallow

The first time I added water to the cooking process was because that's what the book said to do. The second time I added water before putting it in the fridge was in hopes that when everything separated out any bits of meat would fall to the bottom and away from the fat.

    Dog/Pet Shampoo

I'm new to this, but what I was reading was that anything that lathers well is great for dogs. Use some scents that help repel bugs like cedar wood, peppermint, tea tree, citronella, etc.

    Curing

Why do the soaps have to cure? Is there anything wrong with using them early. It's been a week and I REALLY want to try some of my new soap. I'm trying to be patient but I don't know if I can handle it anymore.

    2 soap questions

Yes, that's what our pedi said. The 'tearless' shampoos contain a numbing agent so it's not because they are pure, but that the kids just can't feel it. I do have to say though that my DD can still feel a little sting with the 'tearless' shampoos so I guess it's not enough numbing for her...

    Bug sprays???

OHH, I actually have a system that mists my yard with cedar oil to keep all those buggers away. I just realized I should be making soap and other lotions with cedar oil as well! GEEZ, what was I thinking with 1/2 a gallon of cedar oil sitting here and not making any soap with it!! I'll have...

    SFIC soap base Co-op?

I'd love to order some, but I'm not really sure what to get. I'm new to this. I've been soap making with some friends so I know we'd probably like a few pounds and a variety (not too much variety obviously the scents will be the variety). Any ideas?? We particularly like stuff for babies...

    New, and successful first batches!!

I'll try to get pics but it's not very easy since I have to download them onto a different computer! I used the book "Crafting Soap at Home" by Mike Hulbert for the recipes. We researched like crazy, including using this forum before doing anything and very nervously started. I'm very glad...

    Beef Tallow

So I was rendering beef tallow this weekend. I put 8 pounds of beef fat in a roasting pan and covered with water. I put it in a 200 degree oven for 12 hours, then left it on the counter to cool. I finally ended up having to transfer the top layer to a rubbermaid container and adding water to...
