    Natural Soap

Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong, but for the most part FO's are not natural but EO's are. However you will get some who say that EO's aren't depending on how they were processed because sometimes you get residue from the solvents used to extract the EO or your get your oil, but it is cut...

    Natural Soap

Natural is as natural does!!!!! People say anything and handmade doesn't = natural! Lye isn't natural and if your making soap, then you aren't 100% natural no matter what anyone else says. Also, do you know what she was coloring and scenting her soaps with? Because that will also affect your...

I would suggest doing a search on the forum about soapcalc or even type in numbers in the search field. I know there are a bunch of threads on here about the ideal soapcalc numbers for soaping. Here are a few to get you started... http://www.soapmakingforum.com/forum/vi ... ht=numbers...

    My first time

So I finally made some soap today. I used the following: Coconut Oil Crisco Mango Butter Olive Oil Salt Pink Sugar FO I did RTCP and I must say, my oils couldn't have behaved any better if I had paid them. The process from thin trace to thick trace happened at the perfect pace. I...

    Coconut oil

More likely than not, you have the 76 degree CO. You could simply melt it ant then take the temp to find out for sure as the 76 and 92 refer to the melting point. HTH

What should I do with these? Please help!!

You could also infuse herbs into oils used for soaping or other B&B products. I know the hibiscus flowers and the orange peel can be used for colorant in CP soap. All of the herbs are aromatic and I agree also that they can all be used in bath teas.

    making soap in small quantities

For those of you who only soap for friends and family, can you justify purchasing say 50lb of oil at one time? I am looking into 92 degree coconut oil, but of course the best price I can find right now is for a 50 lb block. I really don't think that I could justify that much and I certainly...

    Can We Talk About Soapcalc?

Just a couple of questions about the numbers... What does the INS stand for and why is it important? How do we end up with iodine in our soap and why is that important? I imagine that it is a by-product of saponification like glycerine but I'm not sure. Can you have a highly cleansing bar...

Question about mixing the lye and oils...

I always wonder when I am reading posts where people talk about how fast their soap hit trace and then they end up glopping the soap into their mold, if it would make more sense to just mix my lye and oils right in the mold if the size permits? So say I had a plastic shoebox mold and a whisk...

Thanks so much for all the great advice! Probably the best advice I got of course was to save money until I have it more down first and I probably will. Dragonfly - that is why I asked, because I would spend it all at once without even thinking first. :P Since I am nowhere near starting a...

    help with FOs

I think that if it says bath and body, then you can use it in soap. It is more about whether or not the oil is safe for use on the skin than how it performs in the CP process. Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

I posted this on another forum thinking that I was here. So I will post it here too. So this Friday I will have about $400 to spend on soaping stuff. I am so excited about this can't ya tell!! I would be able to spend a bit more, but I am saving that up for a few select TOG items! LOL So I...
