Sounds lovely, bright and earthy! And it fits the colours - a touch psychedelic. :)

Second Batch - Sage & Peppermint

Artemis, thank you! It looks paler in real life than in the photos, but in the right light I think I can see a hint of green.

FLEAS?! It never occurred to me that there might be fleas in my shea butter!

Second Batch - Sage & Peppermint

Cellador, thank you so much! Everyone here has been extremely helpful, I think that's why I haven't messed up too badly yet. The loaf for this batch turned out very nicely, which almost makes up for the ones I destroyed trying to remove them from a silicone chocolate mold! Needless to say, I did...

Second Batch - Sage & Peppermint

A few slices from my second batch! I think I'm being too cautious with additives, because this was meant to be green. I added two teaspoons of French green clay to 500 g of oils, as the Soap Queen website recommended about 1 tsp per pound of soap. This is also the soap created during the Messy...

    How have your ideals changed?

Such great answers! Y'all are hilarious. 'Mouse poop soap'; 'FO-HO', oh dear. I see a few people mention making handmade soap as a way to handle skin issues, and I understand that. Most store-bought soap unfortunately upsets my skin, as I'm prone to exzema. Luckily, I've found that the...

    First Experience Using Mica

Earlene, that's a great idea. I'll get some rubbing alcohol tomorrow. I got most of the mica up with damp paper towel, but there's stubborn smudges that hopefully the alcohol will take care of. And I think that the next time I use mica, I'll set the mold atop of some paper towels!

ibct1969, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Horrible stuff - but it sure was pretty! Too bad I don't care for golden cupboards.

    How have your ideals changed?

Back when I first became seriously interested in making soap, 2013 or thereabouts, I had this ideal: I would use only natural colourants and essential oils, and lots of exotic and luxurious ingredients, and a hand-made mold, and... You get the idea! Time and research has sure made a...

I love that soft teal, and the subtle swirl. It looks like it would be such a gentle soap.

    First Experience Using Mica

Penelopejane: I never thought of a tea strainer, that might work much better. And they're cheap from the dollar store as well. Too late about rubbing my nose... although luckily it wiped off fine, haha.

    First Experience Using Mica

So, I made my second batch of soap today! (I will post pics in the gallery once it's unmolded.) I used french green clay and scented it with peppermint and clary sage EOs. I got the notion that it would be very pretty to have golden pencil lines in the green soap, so I got out my little...
