    Advice on new mold

Cmzaha thanks. Over all though, is it a good quality craftsmanship and built to last. It looks constructed well on the site. I probably make 2 pounds(32 oz oils)of a month. The shape of the cavities looks more like a "chunk" of soap rather than like a "Texas toast" type slice, is that right?

Is it possible to make a HARD bar of sensitive soap

I did not know that! I thought it was the hardness after cure. That explains why I recently had a recipe that was a 35 hardness on soap calc, be as hard at 6 months old as a 7 month old 100% coconut oil soap.

    Advice on new mold

I am considering getting the bramble berry 9 bar slab mold with dividers. I added a link to it, I hope it shows up. http://www.brambleberry.com/mobile/9-Bar-Unfinished-Birchwood-Mold-P5169.aspx I never do batches over 2 pounds of oils, I don't sell, I just make mainly for me shampoo/body soap...

    breast milk soap

I'll have to side with the yucks on this one. I like the feel of goat milk soap, but all the while using it I'm thinking "I'm bathing with body fluids that came out of an animals breast to get clean." I like the soap but my thoughts just make it a strange experience. Then when I heard people...

Oat Milk Goat Milk - help

I'd love to see a pic comparing the two batches. Sounds like it would be a very nice soap. I tried goat milk and loved the feel of it but could never get it light enough. Always ended up tan or brown. I even did the ice bath and freezing the milk and combining at very low temps....still not...

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

Well thankfully you could rebatch it. That's an awful thought to waste 17 pounds worth or soap, expensive. Looks kind of Halloween-ish (like Halloween, my b-day :) ) So when it separated, you think maybe it wasn't mixed well enough? I keep my fingers crossed with every batch. I'm lucky so far...

    Best Soap Books

I agree with you all. When I get interested in something, say soap making for example, I tend to get EVERY book I can find and compare information. Why I do this is beyond me. I seriously think it may be a mental issue. Sheez, you should have seen it when I went on my "Finding Jesus"kick (very...

What does it mean she the soap looks wrinkled like that on top? I had on do that but it turned out fine. I thought it looked kind of neat.

Post you ugly soap pics here - Troubleshooting thread

Here's mine! Top that! I'm almost ashamed to share it. If couldn't blame it on the silicone mold and cpop'ing, I'd probably say someone else made it. I'm kidding. No one is perfect and I am queen of imperfection ;) . And of owning it, good and bad. I actually had no idea what the heck happened...

Pomace vs. Grade A vs. Virgin

I just started using Pure. I was using pomace, which is what I learned to make soap with, and after reading that pomace isn't really that good of quality, I switched. I will continue using pure, but honestly I much prefer the quicker, thicker trace of pomace. Something else I noticed with pure...

    Best Soap Books

In your opinion, what would be your all-time favorite soaping book ever? If you could keep only one of your many books on the trade which one would it be? And if different, which one do you think would have been more useful for you as a beginner?

How much honey is too much?

I'm wondering too, if using less....say 1 tsp per pound of oil wold make it lighter?

How much honey is too much?

I made a honey beeswax soap a while ago and it turned out great other than it being too dark for my liking. I used 1 Tbsp. per pound of oils. Also I added it diluted in water at trace. How much is enough and if you add it to lye solution, will that cause the lye solution to over heat...

Lots of air bubbles in cp soap

Thanks. It helps knowing it's not just me. I don't sell my soap so I'm not worried about losing anything on funky looking bars....cuz shoot, if it isn't going to eat me alive, I'll use it one way or another. Just depressing, but now I know. Thanks guys.
