    Mixing lye in ice water?

I measure out my distilled water the night before and freeze it. The next day when I make soap I just add my lye to the ice cubes and I'm on my way! I'm not really in a position to masterbatch, and I hate waiting for the lye solution to cool down, so this works nicely for me.

Does it get better than this?

I said something similar to my boyfriend the other day when I was testing out a new batch. I went over to him and showed him how nice the bubbles were. His response: "Are there even different kinds of bubbles?" -_- On a side note, I'm at the two week stage with my first salt bar. Not...

    Pumpkin....

I just ordered Pumpkin Roll from NG, and it is skin safe. I haven't had a chance to soap with it yet, but it smells super yummy OOB.

I had to refrigerate my soap...

Just went ahead and cut. Everything seems good, just have to wait for it to cure now. Thank you again for all of the help!

I had to refrigerate my soap...

Phew! You had me worried for a second. :)

I had to refrigerate my soap...

Oh, I didn't even think about not unmolding. It was just a thin film on the outside, not even something you could see just looking at it. I thought it would be fine to unmold. :/

I had to refrigerate my soap...

Update! I had my sister take the soap out of the fridge this afternoon and I just checked on it. There was and oily-ish film on it (I think this might be from sweating?), and there was no zap. It unmolded easily, so I'll let it sit overnight and see if I can cut in the morning. Thank you all...

I had to refrigerate my soap...

Shunt - Thank you, I'll definitely check firmness before I unmold. Dixie - I have one of those wire cheese cutters. I couldn't ever get a straight line with a knife.

I had to refrigerate my soap...

I think I'll let it come back to room temp then. Thank you for the help! :)

I had to refrigerate my soap...

To clairfy, if I take it out, let it come to room temp and then cut that would avoid the sweating issue?

I had to refrigerate my soap...

I probably should have done it right off the bat. It was quite warm today and I used coconut milk as half my liquid. I went to check on it after a few hours and therea was a small crack in the top. I was heading out of the house so I just threw it in the fridge. And this brings me to my...

    Watermelon from WSP?

Ah, that's what I was afraid of. I guess I'll hold off on ordering watermelon and see what I can fine elsewhere. Thank you!

    Watermelon from WSP?

I'm going to be placing an order with WSP sometime soonish, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of their watermelon scents. Most of the reviews mention ricing or accelerating, and I'd like to avoid that since I'm still fairly new. Thanks guys! :)

    Stevia in Lip Balm?

Thank you so much for the info! I guess I'll avoid the infusing and just mix it in a carrier oil, and try that out. If the stevia doesn't work out for me, I'll look into buying a liquid sweetener.

    Stevia in Lip Balm?

Finally, an excuse to buy a mortar and pestle! I'll give it a shot in the lip balms and see how it turns out. Thanks. :)

    Stevia in Lip Balm?

I would like to use the stevia just because it's what I bought originally. I'm not opposed to using something synthetic, the stevia is just what I have on hand. I'm thinking maybe I should have done some more research before buying it. At least it was pretty cheap. :/

    Stevia in Lip Balm?

Hi! I'm going to try my hand a lip balm in the next little bit and I had a few questions about using stevia. I bought some packets from Nature's Garden a couple months ago, and I opened one up today and the grains were larger than I expected. I'm worried this will make my lip balm grainy. I...

Thought I would finally introduce myself!

Thank you everybody! I actually spent last night going over both of these blogs. I think I have a recipe I'm going to try, that hopefully won't be too soft. Thank you for the suggestions though!

Thought I would finally introduce myself!

Hello! I joined the forums back in November with the intention of getting back into soaping. Some six months later I finally have the free time before my last semester! I first made a couple of batches of soap in 2012, and had so much fun. I also tried to make lip balms once, and that didn't...
