    Photos of where you soap

Here are my little areas. I bought a stainless steel kitchen cart from Ikea that I actually make the soap on. In our office I have a set of shelves where I cure soap, and store my cutter, planer, sealer and heat gun.

What soapy mistake have you made today?

This was from a few weeks ago, but long story short I over fragranced two batches. Back when WSP had their big fragrance sale back in January I ordered a whole bunch of stuff and finally had the chance to use them about two weeks ago. I usually use my fragrances at 5%, so when I made these...

    Brambleberry FO sale

I told myself I was only going to order 5 fragrances, but I ended up ordering 10. Oh well. :) I ordered yesterday right after the sale started and my order shipped today! That's the fastest I've ever had them ship something.

I think I messed up my sugar scrub...

Right, I absolutely agree that it should be preserved. But will the phenonip be significantly deactivated by the polysorbate 80 in the emulsifying wax? My guess is that the preserving power of the phenonip has definitely been affected, but I'm wondering if anyone here has some insight. I...

I think I messed up my sugar scrub...

Thank you both for your responses. I've tried the melt and pour scrub before and it's not my favorite, hence the emulsified scrub. Maybe my original post was confusing. I have a few ideas in mind to fix the runniness. What I'm more worried about is the combination of phenonip and the...

I think I messed up my sugar scrub...

I tried my hand at an emulsified sugar scrub today. I started with the Spicy Pinecone recipe and modified it a bit. It was runnier than I would have like so I was doing some reading to see what I could change to thicken my scrub. And here is where I realized my (potential) screw up. I used...

    Melting point of mixture?

I just wanted to come back and say thank you all so much for the advice! I made my soap yesterday and it went awesome. It did accelerate a bit, but it was totally workable in my design (actually it was perfect, the bottom layer was completely set when I added my top layer). I'm just waiting to...

    Melting point of mixture?

Yes, that's what I was referring too! I'll have to test that one day when I have some extra time.

    Melting point of mixture?

Thank you both for such thorough responses! My plan for this batch is to make the bottom third one solid color, and the top two-thirds either an in the pot swirl or drop swirl. I already was planning on waiting to add the fragrance until colors had been mixed. So this seems like it still...

    Melting point of mixture?

Kind of crazy question, so forgive me if this is silly. Chemistry is not my strong suit, it took me an embarrassingly long time to pass organic chemistry. However, I do remember talking about mixtures, and how they can change the physical properties (melting point, boiling point, etc) of a...

Has anybody used these for bath bombs?

I am back to report! I used the in some bath melts that I made today. They did fizz a bit when the were added to the batter, but they mixed in evenly and the melts still fizz nicely. They turned the water a nice light pink. So overall I'm pretty impressed. Pictures ahead! (The colors aren't...

    Warning: Dairy in Coconut Milk

I got that today as well. I'm not concerned about it. I'm not ready to sell yet, and nobody I'll be giving soaps too is allergic to milk. But now I'm wondering if I'll have to look into buying a different coconut milk powder.

Has anybody used these for bath bombs?

I went ahead and ordered some of them, so I'll report back after I've used them!

Has anybody used these for bath bombs?

Hello! Has anybody used these to color bath bombs/melts/truffles. https://www.elementsbathandbody.com/Water-Soluble-Liquid-Colorants/ I know BB sells the LaBomb colors but they're a little pricier than I like. I'm wondering if anybody has any experience with these ones from elements. Thanks!

Tips on piping soap-(no pun intended!)

Well, that makes sense. I'll do that when I'm ready to give it a shot. Thank you! :)

Tips on piping soap-(no pun intended!)

I hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but I'm wondering about amounts. When you're planning on adding piping to a loaf, how much extra soap do you usually make? I'd like to try piping but I'm worried about having too much/little for piping.
