Soap making troubles and pictures to go with.

Below are some pictures of my recent batches. All Cpop with about 15mins at 170. Poured at light trace. There are a few problems. Here are two batches of 30/30/30/10 oo/co/po/caster. They have plumbers crack down the center and a thin vein that runs midway down the loaf. Here is a...

CPOP - Finished soap Q & to clean or not to clean oven?

I have had the same experiances with Cpoping in a preheated oven (no additional heat). I use the crafters choice molds as well. My soap comes out ugly and i trim it pretty. I hope someone can give me an explaination also. I wonder how little heat is required to coax these molds through gel...

WSP mold, CPOP, EO and funny texture on the sides...

Does anyone else recommend using freezer paper with these? Also, is it true that otherwise, they get easier to remove soap from them with? Also freezer paper shiny side up? Thanks.

WSP mold, CPOP, EO and funny texture on the sides...

I think I am paranoid of partial gel. I might have to find the sweet spot between partial gel and what might be the overheating that is causing oddly textured sides and a fine layer of EO lining the mold. 170degrees at 30mins is too much for CPOP? Maybe if I let the mold sit longer before...

WSP mold, CPOP, EO and funny texture on the sides...

It absolutely gelled. The very top looks a bit cooked. I did 30 mins and then turned to oven off and let it set. It was fully gelled after 30 mins. I will post pictures after I get the soap out. I may let one sit in the mold longer as I filled two molds. Its like the Eo is pushed to the...

WSP mold, CPOP, EO and funny texture on the sides...

I recently did a CPOP recipe with 0.5oz EO ppo. After 30 mins in the oven I noticed some of the EO was pooling and the reabsorbed as is the norm. However, after 24 hrs I went to pop them out of the green WSP loaf molds and noticed that the EO was still lining the exterior of my loaf and the...

    Mango butter vs. palm oil

Well even though it sounds like you can achieve the same soap properties without mango. It seems like the soapcalc allows you to get the same numbers with the classic 3 oils as you can with any other "fancy" oil. I will assume its possible that two recipes with the same fatty acid profile...

    Mango butter vs. palm oil

On soap calc these two have very similar properties and seem to be a substitute for one another. However, I have to imagine they have very different properties in a finished product. What differences would be seen in a recipe with all olive, coconut, and palm vs. one with some of the palm...

How would this recipe turn out?

How is this: mango butter 10% castor oil 10% olive oil 50% coconut oil 30% This hardens the bar slightly. Thoughts?

How would this recipe turn out?

Any suggestions on firming up the recipe or tweaking it? One person said add more caster and mango... another that it should be firmer. I couldn't do both.

Overheating? Gelling? Will my soap turn out ok?

Last night I poured a batch of honey oatmeal soap in a wooden mold and covered it lightly with a towl... along with smaller shaped molds. The smaller soaps have not changed color at all while the large loaf seems to be browned on the top and a bit on the sides when I removed the wood on the...
