When to add glycerine to hot process shaving soap

Protecting your laptop in your soap room

OI have most of my stuff printed and in a binder, or in charts tacked on the walls for things I make over and over. However, I can use Chrome Remote Desktop on my tablet to run things from my computer, so I can get info out of SoapMaker if I need to.

    SMF March Challenge- Whipped Soap

I have a question about the freezer step: What are we doing there? Is it just to make it cool faster so you can cut it? Or is it necessary to keep it from falling like a bad souffle? Eric

What Happens if Homogenized Palm melts?

If you buy homogenized palm oil, and it all melts for some reason, is it still homogenized? Meaning, if it sat in a hot garage, or even a hot truck while being delivered, does it re-harden still evenly distributed, or does it go back to its normal state?

When to add glycerine to hot process shaving soap

Interesting. Mine makes the mixture stiffer - more like mashed potatoes than the vaseline-like texture after it's cooked but before additives.

    SMF March Challenge- Whipped Soap

The way things have been going I don't think I'm going to sign up this month, but it looks pretty fun. I'll try to play along. ETA: Also, if you're doing colorants could you just put them in with the hard oils?

    Where do you soap?

At first, I did it in my kitchen. Clean up wasn't a problem as I always worked on a clean area and wiped it down thoroughly with water and then cleaning spray whether I thought I had spilled anything or not. Once I decided to start making shave soap commercially and needed to have multiple pots...

    Travelling Faux Funnel

Do you mind telling us how the travelling faux funnel swirl works? Based on the name and the look I'd guess that it's the faux funnel swirl, but moving the point of the pour every 2 times? Eric

    Vanilla and color

My experience is that vanilla + purple is a heartache waiting to happen. The browns from vanilla are dark/desaturated yellows, from a color theory perspective. Yellow is the complement of purple, and the combination makes for a gray-to-brown color, depending on the relative amounts. I made a...

    Acqua di Parma "type" FO?

It's a traditional Italian colonia. Citrus, lavender, oakmoss I think, others. Old fashioned but elegant. I got some of the EdC for Christmas last year.
