So today I am making cream soap for the first time. I am doing very well, except I have one question: If I am adding any additional liquid/additives do I need to use a preservative? Should I use a preservative even without additives or is that only needed with additives? Thanks!

I have been using filtered tap water for my soaps up until now with no issues...But I'm seeing a lot of recipes that call for distilled water. Does that make a difference? I can't justify the extra plastic unless it is necessary. :thumbdown: Thanks Elisabeth

I don't think you can make cream soap without stearic acid. It is there to make it thick and whipped (texture wise)...at least that is the answer I have received from others. I have attempted cream soap with a bar of my handmade soap melted with a bit of water then whipped with extra coconut...
